Default Albies...does anyone eat them?

I know we all support conservation, catch & release, & Albies are treasured for their fight. That being said, I assume that someone has tried to eat one at one time or another. I think that their relatives are tunas &/or mackeral...both can be deleicious & or strong/oily/bloody, etc... They look similar to Bonita, which I have heard mixed reviews about. Some say they are stronger, bloodier & oiler then bluefish. Others say if they are bled, iced & eaten same day they are good on the grill (Bonita that is). Same w/Albies or no? Not that I ever caught one, or even targeted them, hell I don't even know if it is leagal to keep them. Just wondering incase I ever bumbed into a mess of them trying to commit suicide on my line & I was jonesin for a fish dinner.
Thanks.
JD

From the NMFS & NOAA, "...false albacore are the only unregulated tuna..." You can be sure they are inedible.

I heard cats don't even like them. Cats probably taste better. BennyB does not know because BennyB don't like cats.

If you get John Geiser's Shore catch book, he actually has (or had... I have a 20 year old copy) a recipe for "albie salad".... I tried it and threw out the batch I made ... mind you this was a long time ago, though the fish was bled on catch, and the "salad" made after returning to shore.

bleah.

cats or dogs wouldn't even tough the stuff.
