Default Fishing Reports October 16th - 31st 09

It figures just when fishing is getting good we get a NE blow
There goes the neighborhood.
On the positive side we should be into prime fall run season, so catch them now or wish you did later.

Many thanks for the reports and keep them coming.

Default Is it worth a trip to the hook

I have got a huge urge to go down to the hook and give it a go!!! I need advice as to when might be the best time, tonight sat and sun are open, (early am, am, early pm, dusk, night etc.) and should I just plug or deadstick??? With the weather being what it is would it be to dangerous? foolish? or a good idea.
Thanks, poppop153

North end LBI 6-12 this am winds were 12-15 at 6am and only got worse, 1 short with a couple more good hits on clam .12oz to hold in pockets by 11 am outside of the pockets you better tie on a few pounds of weight maybe a small engine block would do, no weed and the water was pretty clear overall for as rough as it is,there here its just a matter of not getting blown away ,anyway goodluck to any that head out this afternoon or tomarrow. if your set on bunker this weekend good luck finding fresh anywhere on LBI

You may have some luck on the bay side. However from what I'm hearing about the surf... forget it till next week.

IBSP was closed when we got there so we went to lavalette. Waves were high but we tried anyway. Friend had a close call when a wave came in knee high and when it went out it went over his waste and took him under. Was able to grab his arm and hold on until the wave subsided. Lesson learned : Always best to fish with a partner.
Safe fishing

went out this morning (bad move) to lavellete at 6:30 there was"nt even a beach to fish on. water was hitting the dunes. headed north to bay head same thing, then to pt. pleasant there was a beach but 7ft waves and a hard blow made it unfishable. headed home but i stopped at sandy hook. finally got suited up and hit the beach, very short walk to the water could"nt cast more that 30 yards with a metal. what a waste of gas. i wish i would have read yesterdays posts last night

I'm glad I bagged my trip with the boys and stayed near home to hit sweet water spots. I'll take the ride next weekend, barring more storms.
