Epson printers
anyone ever have a good run with one of these?
< rant >
had an epson years ago, loud, slow, jammed
had HP's since, until last year, maybe suffering from severe flu, I picked
up a WF-4630 "wireless pro"
lots of great features but the software s u c k s on a mac, and now
has developed two "wavy" sections of a printed page that no amount
of head cleaning, alignment, whatnot will fix.
just feel like throwing the thing in the trash.
oh yeah, I HATE PRINTERS

Re: Epson printers
Nope. They are garbage. I still use HP at home, in work we went to Canon. Those are all I want to deal with.

Re: Epson printers
Being a dealer/service center for Canon and Brother, I always recommend Canon for inkJet and HP or Brother for Laser. Epsons are also a PITA to work on.

Re: Epson printers
Inexpensive printers "under $60" are the way to go in my world.
I get 4 or 5 years out of them.
I know some people who will replace the printer rather then buy new ink.
I have a Epson here now on it's last leg. and a few Canon's at work.

Re: Epson printers
Just realized that I have the bestbuy replacement plan and can take this c**p printer back to them.
Never used bestbuy's plan before, hoping I can pick out a different printer and not the same one.
But either way, can't be worse than the lousy printer I have.

Re: Epson printers
Well went to BB, the exchange was easy. Just go pick out a new printer (HP officejet 8710), it was cheaper than the POC epson, got extra paper, a new 2 year replacement plan and store credit for the difference.
With the price of printers, can definitely see them as throwaways (recycles) going forward, but since I had paid (too much) for the Epson, I got an HP cheaper, but close to, what I had.
Photos printed tonight look a w e s o m e. Software install is professional (all online) and seamless, integration into MAC OSX.
I can understand why some companies (should) go out of business (Epson, I'm talkin' to you).

Throwaways, when ever we have a machine a customer does not repair and they say "can you throw that away for me" Sure, for disposal it will cost you $40.
They always pick them up.
We have to take the time to strip them down, removed all the circuit boards, batteries' separate some of the plastic from metal and then drive them to a recycle plant....
or just drive it to Staples and they will take your "throwaway" at no charge
