Thumbs up Closing Island Beach State Park Wednesday ?let Them Not Shut Us Out

issue I wanted to bring up, who knows what’s going to happen Wednesday with this bill, if it’s not signed and they do decide to close Island Beach State Park to the anglers with beach buggy permits, I think we should all get together and fight this issue, I did call the gate house which the Lady who answered the phone did not know anything, Please for the sake of us anglers who put many hours in to fishing, and many money in to gear and beach buggy permits, which all supports the states budget, if they can’t figure out what they are going to do, why burden anglers who paid for their passes.
Lets not let this happen.
As you all know I don’t have a big heart for tackle shops, but they as well will hurt, they put many countless hours in to their shops, staying open, when just when the weather got good and more anglers are fishing, this will hurt the tackle shops as well, we’re all human.
If they do close the Beach we’ll have no where to fish during the day.
For once lets all fight this and stick together, we all need each other, be prepared, lets all meet if they close the beach on Wednesday .

Any one interested E-mail and we’ll set up a time to meet by the gate house

DONOT LET THIS HAPPEN, I HOPE THE TACKLE SHOPS WILL SUPPORT THIS ISSUE AND FIGHT IT IF THEY DO CLOSE DOWN ISLAND BEACH STATE PARK.

THE MORE BEACH BUGIES INVOLVED THE BETTER, LETS BE HEARD ON THIS ISSUE, AND IT’S ALL BECAUSE THEY WANT TO DRAIN THE PEOPLE WITH AN INCREASE 7% TAX RAISE ..
WE CAN ALL MEET BY THE GATE HOUSE, GET THE PAPERS, NEWS MEDIA INVOLVED IF WE HAVE TO!

DO NOT LET THEM SHUT US OUT OF ISLAND BEACH STATE PARK.!

WE CAN ALL PLAN TO MEET AT 7 PM WEDNESDAY ..
LETS ALL STICK TOGETHER AS A TEAM, WE NEED EACH OTHER NOW !

i just re-read your post on stripersurf, miss information, the raise in sales tax is going from 6 to 7 %,not going up 7 percent, and on the meet at the gate issue,if the park closes due to the budget not getting settled,i will not trespass on state land...thank you
FISHINCRIS
What the heck is the difference 6-7%, so they want raise it 1% more, IT'S STILL ADDS UP TO 7 %
People like you make it impossible, I did not say hey guys lets go on to the Island and traspass,I said meet at the gate and start an issue, be heard, I spent $195.00 for my permit so did many others, did you ?
I want to be able to use it or give my money back to me .
Remember FISHINCRIS I strike back .

the only thing I don't get is how you can trespass on state funded land?

I mean, yes there are safety issues for those who would "bath" at the park,
or with respect to buggy access, but for general fishing in the park?
who cares if Trenton shuts down? let the general fishing access be left alone.

yeah, yeah, I know it doesn't work that way

Yes I agress,
heck a lot of times we drove thrugh the gate hose when no one was there at night in the fall, so whats the difference, this Park was donated for fishermen and woman to fish .
It's going to take a few big mouths like some people I know to stir up a problem.
If this does happen I spoke to Frank at the gate house, it'll close down at midnight july 5th.
I wonder if this continues till next weekend, where will all thesecampers and sunbathers go .?? LMAO, to seaside Park and seaside Heights , packed like a can of sardines on the beach ..

http://www.app.com/apps/pbcs.dll/art...NEWS/607020408
Just read this for those of you who don't live in NJ ,
Lets not let the state put us out, they owe us,thousands of passes were sold this year again, I feel we were giving something for a price, and now they take it away after we gave them our money.
I work hard for my money, how about you all???
Lets all meet out side by the gate house .
Call the paper, let them know were angry if they shut us out of the park, we're being punished.
We paid our dues .

Closing the parks is going to suck for the people who fish during the day because you can't fish any of the bathing beachs from what I understand when the Lifeguards are present. This will also hurt the B&T shops as well with lost sales.
It's nice to know we buy a season long permit for the park and then they can close it on us. Something is wrong with this picture. Sounds like a lawsuit might be in order if the closure lasts any length of time IMO

Guppies idea of getting the media involved would be a good idea providing there was good support from the people who have permits. It sure can't hurt.
I guess we will have to see how this plays out in the next few days and go from there.

Why do people WAIT for the "BIGMOUTHS" to STICK UP FOR THEM instead of doing it themselves?! I have been acussed ( RIGHTFULLY) and looked DOWN upon for being a BIGMOUTH and STICKING up for others but once the current starts to go WITH ME everybody ELSE jumps on bandwagon! You're either "part of problem OR part of solution! (or as Ken Keasy said "you're either ON the bus or OFF the bus)!!!!

Grow a pair ! A damn shame NOBODY wants to sow but EVERYBODY wants to REAP!!
Good going GUPPIE ! THANKS, I owe YA!!!!

Tell you what I am going to do. I am strapping the yak to the car and going out Tuesday afternoon. I will park at A21 and hit the sods. I will stay as long as I damn please. I dare them to come out and find me.
I say Guppie is right on. We are not shoe-bees who just stroll onto the beach for free. We pay a premium and deserve fair access. Why doesnt Corzine lay off his butler and chauffer? Maybe his cook. Why doesn't the State Assembly suspend pay to themselves and stop taking tolls on the parkway and turnpike?
No they are going to hold us hostage so that not only will we agree to them raising taxes and making the most expensive state in the union more costly, but we will actually scream for it.
They are penalizing the good people who simply want some recreation from the casinos, parks and lottery so they can forget their miserable lives for a few minutes. If this happens I agree with guppie we should meet and get our voices heard. If we type up a media release and send it to the Home News and Star Ledger there will be media there. If I am still on the sedges you will see me coming out of the park, if not I will be there.
Go, Go Guppie

This whole fiasco is absolute BS. Wake up people! Do you all hear what is going on? The State does not have a budget so you can not go to any of YOUR State Parks, including IBSP. Why can't we go enjoy our land albeit entirely at our own risk just because the screwed up government can't function?

How many people who will complain about this voted?

How many people who voted and still will complain about this voted for Corzine?

How many people who voted and still will complain about this voted for the Republican candidate?

It would not have mattered because the two biggest political parties are all made up of crooks in suits.

Corzine spends 60 Million dollars of his own money to win a job that does not even pay a quarter million a year!

Does anyone else see a problem with this???

There are alternatives you know, if people would stop being stuck on the status quo party politics crap, and if everyone who will complain about what's going on would actually get out and vote for someone else.

I've been reading all the posts about this here and elsewhere. I think the big point about the whole thing is being missed. The ENTIRE state is going to stop functioning, not just parks. I think there is a provison to keep the State Police and prison guards on duty though. That means anything the state handles, casinos, parks, lottery, DMV, road maintainance(DOT), DYFS, well guess you might get the point, isnt going to be there. Lets not forget the trickle down affect it will have on county and local government either.
Sure, we as people who use IBSP are concerned about the possibility of not being able to fish. We are a drop in the bucket compared to what is going to occur to the state as a whole if they dont pass a budget.
In my opinion, it comes down to a Governer that wants the budget his way, with a tax increase that he said wasn't going to happen while he was campaining, and the legislature, who thinks there might be a better way to balance the budget without another tax increase. It's a mexican standoff, nobody wants to compromise.

This Being this is a fishing website, I thought i'd warn every one about the beach being closed down, the Governor is hurting lots of people to get his way , and let me tell you , the welfare checks were all sent out a head of time .
We just should put up a good fight about the beach access, which is an easy one .
If the bill is not siged by next weekend, where the heck are all these sun bathers going to go ?

like a bunch of saridines packed in a can
