Default New rod and reel help...

I'm looking for a new setup, I have a 9' lamiglas xs9mh paired with a older spheros. I honestly love it and can cast it all day without getting tired but I feel like it lacks alittle distance and I find myself having to lift it up higher in any type of medium surf to prevent the waves from pulling the line.

I'm torn between the g.loomis imx 10'(found for a great price) and the TFO 10'6. As far the reel I'm liking the Penn SSV's for the price but can't decide between the 4500 and 5500 as the 4500 is 30$ cheaper. I only plug and never bait fish. Any other suggestions I'll take.

You are very fixated on the price. Why don't you think about the characteristics and usability? Of course, if the price for you is a matter of principle, then you should just take one that is cheaper.

I'm out of touch with new gear, but you may want to stop in at Fisherman's HQ or down here Tackle direct and talk with some guys. TFO's are great rods, and I have a couple but depends on what you want to throw and the specific rod w.r.t. distance.

10 and 10'6" will both likely get you further than your 9'.

As to the 4500, look at the capacity and see if that fits for you. 5 oz lighter will make casting sessions more comfortable, but neither reel is going to increase your biceps much
