The 2013 New York Baseball Thread
Well, the season is underway. Don't have great hopes for anything much over .500 for either NY team, but at least Pettitte And Revera look to continue to make it feel like the good ol days

This is my projection for Yankee wins by pitcher, currently on the roster.

Re: The 2013 New York Baseball Thread
I guess they always have a few minor league pitchers come up with a few wins, but even so, most of these numbers are a stretch.
That means, barring some real changes and breaks, the Yanks are a .500 team this year.

Re: The 2013 New York Baseball Thread
Vinny,
I'm just looking at who they have, what injuries they are coming off of, and don't see how they get many more wins?!
It's like when you're putting together a season, you multiply 9*162 (plus buffer for extra innings, but this gets balanced by shortened games/rainouts)
and you've got to fill up that many innings.
Look at who you've got and see where the wins are coming?
Pettite could have a 15+ win season. Key word: could
CC is, in theory, capable of a 20 win season.
Those 2 would get you to 90, IF they could perform at that level. Big IF given the recent history.

Re: The 2013 New York Baseball Thread
They have got some aged and injured veterans, a bunch of minor leaguers, and 1 or 2 legit major league pitchers.

Well well well, look who fell in the well. Perhaps the Mets pulled a lucky draw with "phenom" Harvey, who is now 3-0!

Re: The 2013 New York Baseball Thread
Rob I hear that Magic Johnson is looking for a good statistician to help him decide how many more millions he should blow to make the Dodgers at least a .500 team and beat out San Diego. Seeing that your trade advice to make the Angels the greatest team ever assembled, is working out so well Magic should be calling you soon.
Predicting anything before the All Star break is a waste of time, then again MLB started promoting the fan votes for the All Star teams in April so we are sure to have a bunch of players on the disabled list or ones sent down to a Triple Farm team as "All Stars."
Not sure yet who I'm going vote for the AL Shortstop, both Jeter and Reyes are on the ballot, DL notwithstanding!
At this point John Gibbons of the Toronto Blue Jays, the per-ordained AL Manager of the Year, will be shit canned BEFORE the All Star break.
Being serious - since I have the MLB Extra Innings package and see a lot of games the class teams of MLB remain the Yankees (using subs), the Giants, Braves, Cards, and Oakland A's. Detroit will probably take the AL Central again this year but trust me on this, the Tigers, in total, including Leyland, suck.
Only one preseason prediction has and will continue to verified each month of the season, Jeffrey Loria is the worst owner of a MLB franchise in the late 20th and early 21st century.

You're probably right about those teams, including the tigers.
Still ticked how Leland let his pitching staff doctor the balls including Kenny Rogers
