Good thing you didn't plan that trip 2 weeks later.

Re: 2017 Tropical Storm Thread
most of the models have Irma coming into South Florida, or near South Florida, and then swinging N-NE.
NHC for some reason still has it "appearing" as if it will hit the gulf, but I'm not reading anyone that believes that, as of now

Re: 2017 Tropical Storm Thread
I did read about a blocking High Pressure over our area that is actually helping steer Irma further West than the earlier models were predicting.
South Florida is pretty much the bullseye, as of now, however... no matter where it goes after. God help the gulf if it goes in there.

Re: 2017 Tropical Storm Thread
just got off the phone w/ my friends on St Maarten , airport closed , Jet Blue & Air France had a flight in early for folks wanting to leave . Locals board their windows & sand bag the doors & move to high ground. Its going to be a quick move thru .

That orange line on the map goes right through my backyard in SC Had the same situation when Hugo came in except that Hugo did not run the spine of Florida first.

Re: 2017 Tropical Storm Thread
meanwhile, another tropical depression forming in the gulf, while Jose (at this point in time) seems to be a "fish storm"... will stay out to sea, though Bermuda could be hit.
of course, the tracks of both depend on a lot of other unknowns at this point.

Re: 2017 Tropical Storm Thread
latest (off a bombarded NOAA site!) swings it way east, and perhaps the trend will keep it there.
however, this may increase the risk up the coast!
