Fished out front in Stone Harbor all week with only dogfish to show for my efforts. Used big hooks to avoid the snappers, so not much effort for the smaller ones that are there. Nice water but a little chilly this am, but gonna go plugging to end my stay.

Added a foot long fluke to the total for the week. Right in the wash on a bucktail. No snappers in the surf either. Teasers were untouched all week...I guess I need a new pattern.

Have not posted here in a while...here it goes...went to one of my favorite places (Orchard Beach in LI Sound) and looked for porgies in the kayak...6.30am to 3pm...found them on any rock pile that I fished...had 3-4 around 16" and at least 20 over 14" and the rest was released ( lost count on the total)....90% on a small jig spiced with a "red fish bite"...they went crazy about it..the big ones also hit small gulp minnow...as by-catch caught 3 striper bass ( 12-23"), one cocktail blue, 2 fluke and a sea robin...a lot of fun...water was about 70F, light wind and a beautiful Sunday afternoon...was planning to try for tog (warm-up ...season opens on Thursday in NY) but was so busy catching porgies that I decided no to go to find some crabs on the beach and try if there were any around...

Most likely my last (weekend) trip of the year to Salmon River for 2017 especially with stripers & blackfish around the corner.

Word is beyond out and crowds are out of control, it was fun while it lasted!

Ended up landing 7 out of 21 in the shit show on Saturday.

I haven’t had much of anything to report lately but little blue but found some cookie cutter stripers the last few days on the s&p and the snag and drop on the peanuts. All bass between 18”-24”. Water is still warm. All fish caught out back nomoco mostly daylight hours or dusk.

I'm planning a launch Thurs and Fri in LIS for tog and porgies. Making it easy and hitting Jack's for crabs.
Always up for company. Orange revo and I believe I will be in my dry suit.
