You forget Johnny Bench. All he had to do was get the ball to second cleanly and the runner was caught stealing.

What Bob said... sort of like how Jordan was never called for a charge.

I just saw the world series schedule. If there is a seventh game it will be on Halloween night. Half of the people won't be home and the ones that are most likely won't be watching TV.

Ask Jess how he likes his new digs. Best part of a 55+ community in my mind is the lack of little poachers coming around on Halloween. Well, actually the little ones were fine, it's the bigger poachers that irked me (teens that should be working instead of looking for free candy)

You sound like me. "The Candy Entitlement". I always take a personal floater just so I can be at home (and fish in the morning).

While the BAston fans are sleeping late after another attempt to CHEAT out a win , Could someone tell them you can't intentionally trip a player running to score ! What is it with New England players ? first the NE Pats w/ ( BeliCHEAT ) now the Sox , GOO on the pitchers glove in game #2 . What's next " The Boston Crab " by " Killer Kowalski ?

I missed that play... was it at the end? I went to bed when still tied 4-4 in the 9th.

Edit: just watched the replay on mlb. Hmmmm, while on the one hand it was bizarre in that at first the third baseman did not appear to be in the in the runner's path, but in this case it looked like he actually lifted his left leg to trip the runner!!

I say good call by the umps!

Just rising up to get to his feet, do you expect him to stay on the ground, come on. Runner should be on the base line.

I thought that too, Joe. But he lifted his calf and tripped the guy. Intent doesn't mean anything, that was the act of obstruction.

Tough call, but I think they got it right.

I agree, saw it live and then watched the video replay.
Important point is the RULE itself. Clear interference.

Not going to matter much I think the Red Sux close out the series in game 6 but it would be great to go 7 games and scare the bejesus out of Red Sux fans.

Does anyone know the total number of "chip shot" home runs David Ortiz has hit into the Red Sux bullpen?

well it's over, and to your NBA comment, my bro in law won tickets to the Sixers-Heat game last night, said he saw a great game. Sixers scored the first 19 points in a row. Ray Allen scored 3 consecutive 3 pointers and a shot from half court at the buzzer, and the Sixers won. Not that I care a hoot about the sixers or the NBA. I don't watch either.

anyways, here ya go Baseball season. There's always next year

"RED OCTOBER" (SI.com) -- Boston Globe 2-line banner, "TESTED AND TRIUMPHANT: Resurgent Red Sox give battered Boston a world championship," by Dan Shaughnessy: "It was a Back Bay Bacchanal, a party unlike anything since 1918. Six months after Shelter in Place, the city of Boston invites the world to celebrate a victory of team over self. Boston Strong, at least a variation of the theme, hit a crescendo Wednesday night on the Fenway lawn, the town common of 2013. These Red Sox, the motley crew that left Fort Myers begging, 'Please don't hate us,' completed the ultimate redemption song, thrashing the St. Louis Cardinals, 6-1, in the sixth and final game of the 2013 World Series. The Brotherhood of the Beard are World Champions for the third time this century, worthy progeny of the 20th century Sox, who won five of the first 15 Series back in the days when Babe Ruth was a fuzzy-faced left-handed orphan from Baltimore.
"Nobody saw this coming. Nobody. [Except Carney, Keil and Brooks.] After the worst season in 47 years-the Bobby Valentine clown show of 2012- Sox general manager Ben Cherington and new field manager John Farrell made the Red Sox relevant and good again. The 2013 Sox dusted the field in the American League East, then blew past the Tampa Bays Rays, the Detroit Tigers, and the estimable Cardinals in an 11-5 postseason onslaught. The Sox were dominant. In the 2013 playoffs they bested aces Matt Moore, David Price, Justin Verlander, Max Scherzer, Anibal Sanchez, Adam Wainwright, and Michael Wacha. And so Boston has its eighth championship parade since 2002, and outgoing mayor Thomas Menino will be on a duck boat, which is scheduled to roll down Boylston Street, past the places where the bombs exploded on Marathon Monday, April 15. It is the ultimate civic comeback story." See the page. http://goo.gl/QKnk46
