Tampa Bay rays really lost their cool today - looked and acted like a bunch of punk losers. The Rangers are the "real deal."

Tough to be a Twins fan..... I will never understand why the talking heads consider Minnesota a top franchise and the manager brilliant. If Pettite doesn't make it into the Hall of Fame on the first ballot I'll be pissed!

San Francisco... When fastball pitchers go up against American League hitters they always lose. Anyway I doubt the Giants will make the World Series, I think the Braves have a better shot at it.

Want to read a hilarious and excessively vulgar blog on the playoffs? Check this out and yes of course it was written by an obnoxious self centered New Yorker but as you will see he is obviously a Mets fan, aka Loser.

at least Pavano took the high road last night:

"
Through a pool reporter, crew chief Jerry Crawford said Gardenhire's incendiary remarks were limited to "balls and strikes. That simple," said Crawford. Replays of the argument show that Gardenhire used some more colorful language not suitable for a family newspaper. Pavano said the call and the subsequent ejection didn't frazzle him.
"I don't think it affected the whole inning at all, actually," said Pavano. "Leadoff walks - you can't do that late in the game, especially against this team. Posada worked the leadoff walk and Berkman hit a good pitch. That's the way I see it. My job is to go out and make good pitches after that and I didn't do it."

John,

You and I were both wrong. Yanks dispatched the twins without too much fanfare.

Still looks like they'll be facing Tampa Bay... in spite of Lee, I'll be genuinely shocked if Texas beats the Rays today.

The wining team tonight will be the one whose starting pitcher doesn't have a melt down if the home plate umpire doesn't have a big strike zone. My gut says the Rays win and that will be a better outcome for the Yankees.

Just read that Burnett will start Game 4 of the ALCS. Can't wait to see the Vegas odds on that game but Yankees have no options!
I still say that that idiot GM in Seattle should be drummed out of baseball for life for stupidly trading Lee to the Rangers for basically nothing!

ALCS - Yankees in 7

NLCS - Phillies in 5

That sounds about right, Bob. I fully agree Yanks in 7 and Phils in 5!

Thumbs up Re: The 2010 NY baseball thread

Yankees 6 Rangers 5

Talk about a bullpen imploding! That was a classic Yankees game, sweet, especially because the "Yankees Suck" chanting was relentless and then total silence in the 8th inning!

This is the best image from the game, Nolan Ryan's expression is as they say "Priceless." George just looks "bummed out."

and this call to the bullpen is brought to you by rolaids:

WOW... of course Sterling was saying this was the greatest yankee comeback in playoff history... which I can't really say is true given its game ONE of the ALCS. But I suppose some hyperbole is in order.

Nice to see the captain get a big hit, and another double in the 9th.

Poor to see how Mo got squeezed by the home plate umpire against Young, but no matter.

NY stuns Texas: You could've heard a 'pen drop

CC didn't have it from the first pitch, but Texas didn't capitalize and their mental errors cost them. CC getting the guy at home turned out to be crucial. Wood picking off the runner, and Gardner beating the pitcher... difference between playing like a champion or an also-ran.

it's a long series, so perhaps I'll be wrong (again) but....call me one of the faithless few, but I say stick a fork in the Yankees. I think they're done.

about as dominant performance over the yankees I can remember, ever.

The Yankee bats must get on a hot streak to have a shot. And now it's clear the Yanks only chance is to win 3 straight.

Given that the Yankee pitchers haven't been able to figure out a way to stop the Ranger's bat...it's pretty darn unlikely anything good is going to turn the Yankees way.

That picture of Lee running off the field with a grin I've seen many times before, that is not the kind of "show" that will make him enamored by players around the league and will probably bite him in the XXX some day.

The LCS is 4 out of 7, I initially predicted it would go down to the final 7th game.

I feel bad for Petite, he pitched a great game, yielding only two hits, Kerry Wood did his job in the 7th and then Robertson blew it. The worst shut out loss in Yankees HISTORY. I was and still am really pissed with Gerardi, he gave away the game deliberately, probably thinking that he should conserve his bull pen for the next day. Pitiful. Gerardi may think it was a smart move but he embarrassed the whole team, ya' know the guys who have to grind it out in a 162 game season.

I can't believe he is starting AJ Burnett tonight. With his awful W/L & ERA record this year, Gerardi is gambling with the effort of a whole team on a loose ca nnon. In war you don't put your worst officer in charge of a battle and in real life you don't promote your worst employee or give him/her leadership responsibility when the company is in trouble. I'm dumbfounded but maybe this is the way they do things in Chicago....
