Default Whats at the beaches right now??

I want to take a quick second to introduce myself... I'm Joe, 29, and live in Vineland. I have spent my whole life fishing from boats, but last year I decided to give fishing the beach a try. We decided to hit the beach in late Aug in SIC in search of some toothy sharks... all we wound up with was 2 dozen sand sharks, 5 skates, 4 small fluke, and about 40 kingfish over the course of a week.

This year due to a new job, I totally missed the spring striper season. Now that work settled down, I am committing my one night a week off to go hitting the beaches. Since I work 3rd shift, I figgured this would be a great way of killing my night off without waking everyone in the house up.

So I'm gonna go hit the beaches this sat into sunday morning. Since I haven't been out this early on the beach before, I have no clue what's running. My mind is tore between heading to SIC for kingfish, of hitting the Fort or East point for a possible stray weakfish or lingering bass.

What's everyone thinking for this time of year between seasons??

Thanks guys.... My parents own a Marina on Matt's Landing, so I know all about the tourists.... or should I say bird watchers down there.

Son... I might just take you up on that.... I'm always looking for someone to go with... fishing solo just gets boring after a while.

For sharks on the beach, a guy down in Brigantine area gets them:

1. he chums by making his own chum logs that he hauls out, basically swims out

2. he fishes down tide in the chum slick

3. he fishes at o-dark-thirty... meaning at night

Seen some impressive photos, but can't remember what site they're on.

Short of doing that, you're catches are a typical summer catch down my way, not too many resident stripers in the surf after the last push of migrators pass through sometime in June/early July.
