As a matter of fact he has many years of experience driving when there wasn't even roads yet.
I believe he will do just fine in his new buggy on the beach.

I loved it when they had to flip the buggy right side up!
There was a comment on yt "This may be a company promotional video but it does not make driving look like any fun. "
my comment is that it looks like a LOT of fun !
looking forward to sitting down with a bowl of popcorn to watch Pat's
gopro of a new "beating on the beach" by neverrude!

Re: Subaru Forester on the beach..?
this is what I have to say to all of you....... .....
I'm going to fill out my buggy permit application as soon as I get the Forester and make sure they receive it the first they start accepting them....

Re: Subaru Forester on the beach..?
here's a real video of a forester on hatteras.

This was our first experience with driving the 2012 Subaru Forester AWD, 2.5 L on the deep sand of Hatteras Island, NC. We "aired down" (reduced the tire pressure) to 18 psi as is recommended to keep from getting stuck when the sand is deep and soft. There is a segment at the end of this video of a stuck vehicle whose driver failed to air down. Once he did and was pulled out, he proceeded fine.

Re: Subaru Forester on the beach..?
Thanks Rob, I'm going to start looking for a front receiver for a cooler and rod holder.

I have seen a few of the older more "station wagon" looking ones on the beach and unlike those RAV4 type trucks never seen one stuck. I just want to document it, you know just in case......
Heres a older Outback on IBSP, think they still have the same AWD system, the sand does look its as firm as it gets in the park. BTW I never knew you got better traction driving in 1st & 2nd gear

Joe I would have as I went by but I always keep both hands on the wheel at high speeds.

Re: Subaru Forester on the beach..?
Alright Mike......
Looks like you made a good choice.......
The votes are in and it's official: The Subaru Forester has been crowned king of one of the most hotly contested automotive segments in the United States, winning Motor Trend's coveted Golden Calipers as 2014 SUV of the Year.
Once again.........good luck when you finally get behind the wheel.

Curious what happened to the Grand Cherokee and Wrangler in the competition?
"The Forester fought off stiff competition from Acura's new MDX, the Land Rover Range Rover Sport, and staples such as the Toyota RAV4. And that's not to mention the rest of the competition: Audi's Q5, now featuring the very impressive diesel TDI variant; BMW's X1; the relatively diminutive Buick Encore; the refreshed Dodge Durango and Jeep Cherokee; Hyundai's long-wheelbase Santa Fe; Kia's new Sorento; and oddballs and outliers in the form of the MINI Paceman and the Mitsubishi Outlander. Motor Trend editors evaluated vehicles with attention to six specific criteria: advancement in design, efficiency, engineering excellence, performance of intended function, safety and value."
