I live a short walk to both the South River and Rexham Beach. I guess it is high time I started to learn to fish.
Got some me some gear a month ago(see post in main forum). When should I expect the stripers to arrive here? anybody have any experiences in this area? how about the North or South Rivers,do the big boys make their way up them?
thanks,Bros
Mike

I read your other post and will suggest a differant aproach to the question. I have spent many long days and nights fishing both areas. If you are planning on fishing above the old railroad crossing ,just before rt 3a from the ocean side than what you have will do nicely. It is called Damons point in the North River. From the bridge toward the entrance were the South River joins the North River I would say that what you have will do fine for now. If on the other hand you are spending time on Rexium beach or on the beach at Hummorock trhan I would suggest a longer rod and a reel LIke a Penn 704z. Over the years the beach area has produced some nice fish, bass, bluefish, and cod.The best placew to fish was at the Nike Site where the two rivers come together. If the old pipe is still showing and you get permision to fish the place I would fish in front of the pipe. We did better with worms, but who knows plugs do work as well ,but further up both rivers. I have a very good friend that lives on the North River around the Damon Point area. His name is Wayne Johnson. Look him up in your local telephone book. Tell him that the angler said hello and if he would not mind assisting you in your endeavers. ANGLER

Thanks Angler,
I plan on getting a longer pole in the future and move from fishing the river to fishing the surf. I found a nice channel today at low tide and am going to chunk that area at night when the tide is much higher.
What kind of fish can I expect to find there besides stripers(hopefully).
I hope someday I run into you on the rivers or the beach and can thank you personally for all the helpful info you given me and others here.
Mike
