Long story. I started using a small flyfishing sling pack, that I now keep a small 3 foot cast net in. wear a shirt with lots of pockets for plastic hooks hardware etc. I think I'm getting smarter w age

It's still summer down here... more kingfish than you can shake a stick at.

And a bunch of these customer still cruising the shallows.

Well my plan to see what the NE blow looked like back fired, instead of 9 to 12mph winds it was more like 30mph. Got halfway out on my rocks and said nah, this isn't worth dying for, went home and had a beer. It looked fishy just wasn't worth the risk, at least to me.

I stayed out for the first two hours of incoming. Felt like if I had fished the next two hours as the trough filled, I might have done ok, but was alone and wading out to get casts past the bar wasn't a good option

It was blowing pretty good for sure...

Went plugging yesterday, switched to fluke rig for a while and tried clams later yesterday and this morning...nothing. Couldn't keep the bait and 8 from rolling down the beach in the wind

Maybe I should have gone in the morning. Yesterday's outgoing was a bust. I wasn't prepared for the wind blowing that hard. Usually I check conditions instead of just the forecast. Went north to a couple places in Monmouth and found one that I could fish, but the water was heavily stained. I just wasn't feeling it so I quit early.

Have that same Fishpond pack - love it to death. It's going up to the Salmon River for Steelhead in November.

went out at 4am yesterday to throw some plugs/metals; not a good situation; waded out to mid-calf and the rip almost knocked me down; made a few casts and went inside to the inlet; wind was wicked; nada

Keeps everything dry, very, comfortable designed to swing to the front with all openings lined up for easy access AND made in USA!

Nomoco 3p-6p in the back. Clear water plenty of spearing with no worries. One sea robin on pink banana bucktail jig.

I'm glad to hear you guys are using good judgment with this NE blow and keeping your ars out of harms way.
Reading about surf fishermen getting hurt or worse, is not what any of us like to hear..

Got out today from 4-930. Had the pleasure of bass and blues ripping threw mullet in the wash Only managed two bass and five blues. The bait was just about hitting me in the feet. Had some misses casting stright out before I realized that they wanted it three feet off the beach where they were racing threw. Nice way to start the fall.
