Salty,
were those black sparkle plugs the same type of pigment as the turquoise fire?

Where does a newbie get his hands on these plugs? I am in Northern Jersey, not real close to the shore, but want to start stocking up for my first season in the salt

Hey Justin,
You are just starting collecting an arsenal. Good! What you need is a strategy. These things cost a bit, so I would kind of acquire slowly. The way I did it was buy them as the season progresses. In the spring peanut bunker and bunker patterns are strong, and pencil poppers are all good places to start.
As the season progresses some swimmers and so on, when fall rolls around start looking for slimmer mullet profiles and sand eels like needle fish plugs.

This way you use your money on stuff you are using currently instead of laying out money for plugs that wont be as effective until the fall.

My 02. Also DJ is right about the Asbury show and a few others. Great place to just stroll around and get an education.

DJ, That sweet hunk of wood was swam once in sweetwater, The action was seductive and there is no doubt this plug would put large on the beach. The fear is the toothy bastages, there is no way they would leave it alone. I keep it nice and safe on my wall. It was made by a close friend and it is one of my most cherished pieces. It is one of only four I beleive, and the only one in the bunker finish. As far where am I , you can usually find me with wet feet or shootin the sh*! over at Grumpy's.

When is the Asbury show? I may have to check it out. I went to the show in Parsipanny yesterday, but nothing real exciting.
