How does one, or can one, transfer the warranty on a VS reel. I recently acquired an unused new model VS200, and would like to transfer the warranty if possible.

One should call VS give them the serial number and ask if its still under warranty. If so Im sure they will transfer it, if not (like they have never serviced it) they probably will ask for you to return it and then see what if any upgrades it needs (drag washers, line rollers etc&gtand charge you accordingly.

Tim, To transfer or reinstate the VS Limited Lifetime Warranty the reel must be returned to the factory for an Annual Service ($36.95)plus any additional parts and labor required to bring the reel into a warranty condition. For more info you can visit www.vanstaal.com and the service/warranty section. You can also download a product return form to include with your reel.
Please feel free to call us at 800-718-7335 if you have additional questions.

Actually, the person who I bought this from included a letter / invoice from VS indicating that the service had just been done a short time ago.

Tim, With that being the case we would not force you to once again send in the reel. Get me the paper work from the previous owner or better yet email me the ser# and prev owners name and I'll take care of the transfer for you.
My email address is rickhersom@vanstaal.com
Welcome to the Van Staal "family"!!

Regards Rick

So Tim just what are you going to do with a new VS 200? You actually have to break away from the office and go fishing.....

Bob,

There is no breaking away from the office. Even when I am not there I am attached at the hip (pager) 24x7.

David - Did you see the January issue of On the Water? There is an article by David Pickering "Make Some Custom Fluke Rigs" on page 48. There is a picture of a young boy with a fluke and a rod/reel across his knee. The reel is a black Van Staal

Tim - Seen that Corona beer commercial with the pager?
