Question Last Windows XP Update

Anyone experience problems running their usual software since the last Windows XP Update (last Tuesday 2/12). Suddenly three programs won't open, I just get the message window stating that Windows was unable to open Safari. "If you were in the middle .....you might lose your work....please tell Microsoft about this problem." (#$%^&%$#@#* Microsoft)

So far this has hit the Safari browser, Ulead PhotoImpact (image editing) and my FTP software. Removing their respective files, folders and registry settings and then re-installing has not worked.

This is happening on two PC's that were MSP (Microsoft Shit Patched) last week.

No problems with my ftp server {BulletProof G6} or Client {Flash FXP}.
I don't use Safari or Ulead.

Try going back to the system restore point that should have been created just prior to the update.

I suddenly can't print from microsoft office. I can print a test page but not a new document- an old one but not a new one. I did new drivers, reinstalled office but I'm still printing blank pages. Oh man my poor penmanship !!

Shootin' blanks, what do you expect at your age?

I have no solution for you, maybe your drivers are "dysfunctional"?

Yeah reinstalling the old printer stuff was the wrong approach but getting new drivers on line was supposed to work. Now to trick the program to look around??
won't be the first time the bait was good and nothing happened !

Ive found when having to reinstall a printer to get the uninstall file from the manufactures site and run that along with your normal uninstall.
Then reboot before the new install.

darrel I don't know if that was what you did, but based on what you posted it looks like you just did a reinstall over what was there already.

So much in Vista is broken it's hard to fathom.

Right now I have a set of M$ updates that won't / can't complete for who knows what reason.

Another program tries to run, gets some "object missing" error.

Another program I can't uninstall or install completely (there are pages of people out there asking to do the same thing I am, with no success)

Got new Dell xps 420 having problems connecting , comcast does not seem to be the problem. Dell thinks the 64bit processor has problems with Vista suggested sending 32 bit cd to basically downgrade a brand new system. I hear their problems with Vista, does this sound like one. Thanks for any feedback

For the most part, when Microsoft releases a new operating system, yes even xp, you hear of how much trouble this system is, it stinks.
I have been on allot of Vista websites lately and its a 99 percent - 1 percent, love -hate.

I opted for the Vista optimum or premium or what ever it was called and have not had an issue yet. No Problems.

In the many years I have had 98,-melunium,-xp,-xp pro there have always been issues.
Learn it , work them out.

My wife has my old LT with xp pro and it will not completely down load the service pack 3, it still works ok and she still "computes"

when I hear of *large* enterprises committing to Vista, I'll believe it's "real".

Any major software has to be patched, fixed, upgraded whatever you want to call it. Things that weren't imagined or considered or combined before cause problems. IBM's mainframe operating systems have fixes coming out every day. Why should the little machines be any different.

I've had folks refuse to update or insure compatablitly for years after they'd been told their software was off support. Then they finally get catastophic failures and don't understand why someone didn't warn them. Even after they'd been told and given painless conversion pathways for years. Granted with PC's and personal machines you don't get the robust testing of all your,(and everyone else's) enterprise's software. Which is why things happen like the orriginal post on this thread.
