I have aquired some liberty this weekend. My plan was to get over to the coast, SSP area. On Saturday night. Does this mean the pretty green water is gonna be chocolatey, when I plan to fish?

Hope you wont need it.

I purchased the lowest of low end generators to just power a frig and lights.
Just don't want to lose much food again.

at any rate here's the latest from accuweather:
"Current indications are that a storm will spin up just off the Atlantic coast this weekend. One scenario swings that storm westward with heavy rain, gusty winds and rough seas."

So, still possible to hit shore, but more likely to stay just off the coast.

Perhaps some swells and NE wind will get the bass moving, however!

I'm totally ready, but like Rob said, hope I don't need it. 220 receptacle on the side of the house to a single-pole double-throw breaker with transfer plate. Gas or propane powered, with three cans on standby

I really bought it cause buying it ensures we wont have any serious bad weather. Like when I broke down and bought a huge snoblower year back and it didn't snow much for 3 years..

Steve, did you do that install? how is the breaker wired into the main panel? do you just turn off the main breakers (so you don't backfeed) or do you have a fully wired transfer in place?

Just as an fyi, I turn off the mains, and hook my 30A/220 genny plug to the air conditioner compressor circuit breaker on the outside of the house (disconnect the compressor leads and hook up the genny leads). Feeds the whole panel/house, but you need to feel comfortable/knowledgable enough to do the wiring. I bought a 30A premade cord, and cut the far end connector off to separate the wires out to hook to the AC breaker.

The only thing I hook up separate is run an extension cord to the fridge from one of the 110 outlets on the genny.

Worked great during Sandy (with a borrowed genny). Obviously, we watched what was turned on in the house, but basically everything worked but the AC for over a week.

Not advocating this, cause I'm pretty sure it's not "legal," code-wise. But I know many people that feed the entire house this way in an emergency.
