Have to admit, that's the first time I've ever heard of that!

edit: I thought getting a stargazer on a clouser was exotic LOL.

well what can I say- 3 weeks in a row of catching and 1 week of the skunk Went out with the wife trolling early Saturday in RB. Didn't think it would of been that windy/chilly but overall nice day to be out. Trolled from 645-10am and covered all the spots that had produced for me last outings. Came up with the skunk. Saw one boat land a fish out of all the boats I drove around. Not sure if they moved out or not. Got word yesterday that striper action turned up after the rough week/ Saturday. Hoping they will be around this weekend if not guess i'll try my luck trolling out front!

We fished that striper challenge tournament on Saturday and only had 9 keepers most of which came in the morning. Covered a lot of the bay and areas that had no bait were holding fish and areas infested with bait had no fish. So basically everything and anything I know about bass fishing was completely wrong this past weekend. lol

It was opposite day all weekend. My arms is still sore from hundreds of casts and zippo!

saw 1 fish caught by a guy trolling an umbrella rig. didn't mark much of anything. Couple fish here and with no takers. No bait at all. Did troll up a keeper fluke and a sea robin so I know I was trolling deep enough lol. Acres of Blues on the the surface but didn't want to eat
I spent a lot of hours on the kayak on Saturday for only one short bass...true, technically I avoided a skunk...but very disappointing...I was marking fish but no hits...on my way back going over the flats in front of UB they were swirls all over...first thought that they were blues but then realized that the bass were basking on the top and as I would approach with the kayak they would move away...stop trolling and tried casting using everything from the tackle box and could not buy one hit...must have been the warm weather spell that made the fish not interested in artificial lures...maybe chunking would do better...we will never know

They are deeper in the holes and channels in RB. Yesterday only a few reported caught by trollers using mojos in the AM.

Don't worry, everyone down here are chasing Sea Robins for the "On the Water" dreamboat challenge.

edit: my bad, Fisherman Magazine... ya know, the one that had that 20+lb "recreational" caught flounder

And no, I'm not joking.

(edit: I hate tourneys and fishing contests of all kinds. I'm really glad Oyster Creek is shutting down, perhaps the Mar 1 Striped Bass first fish contests will change to April now)

Bill, blues have arrived nothing crazy yet picked up two this am, 5-8lb range. Also landed one keeper bass (still swimming) in the back. Sucker was fat. Based on things the inter web has up should have stuck it out more in the dark out front, but visibility was zero with the fog and couldn’t see the waves crashing on me so moved to the back for calmer waters. This am the surf looked perfect like it could bust open with the nice light NE but only a slow pick of blues from the few fishermen out.

Agreed, I thought it was going to bust wide open this AM. Only 1 big flounder for me.

jetty this afternoon and gave it 90 min; about a dozen blues and two bass came up with about 5 guys fishing; one keeper bass; landed a nice big blue about 7-8 lbs on a Kastmaster; odd blue bite; lot of taps and break offs; even the
hook ups were not the classic blue smashing hits; I was using a 7 1/2 ft lamiglas light rod thinking it was schoolies so it was a real battle; great fun; back at it at 5am
