Default Okuma EVX Rods?

I've been looking around for a decent jetty rod and I've done A LOT of research. I spoke with a shop owner down in NC who said these new Okuma rods are VERY strong and great for jetties. I'm just curious if anyone has purchased on or has any information that would be helpful in my decision. I know many people recommend Lamiglas rods for jetties but I'm really not looking to spend that much on a rod I know will get banged up. Here's the specs:

OKUMA EVX IM-8 GRAPHITE SURF RODS

The brand new rods from Okuma needs to have the same attention as the big 5 surf manufactures, such as Fenwick, Lamiglas, Breakaway, St Croix, and Loomis. This high quality low price surf rod has all the components as the big 5 but 1/2 price. Components are Pacific Bay concept coated guides, Fuji padded reel seat, the IM8 high quality graphite blank, and a thick 2 coat epoxy flex coat finish, and high quality Rubber grip. Its going to be winner with the surf fishing gang, much lighter and more flex along its length than other surf rods, great throwing lead up to 8oz or plugs up to 6oz. Works best with a 1oz lure or plug, a must have rod for your collection.
  • New Okuma EVX Surf Rods
  • LifeTime Warranty
  • IM-8 Graphite
  • Pacific Bay Aluminum Guides
  • Fuji S/S Reel Seat
  • Rubber Diamond Handle
  • Pacific Bay Butt Cap
EVX-S-902H 9'0" HEAVY Surf Spinning 20-40 3-8 $110.00

Yeah, I have a 4 yr. old solaris that's still holding up well. These EVX rods are a little stronger though.. I may give it a shot

The airwaves have a soft tip IMHO too soft for jettys. I fished the Solaris and its nice rod for the price. I think these new rods are worth a shot. I might pick one up as a back up or a loaner rod w/ the lifetime warantee you cant go wrong. Tight lines!!!
