Default Good Baitshop? (Belmar Area)

I live in Howell, and I usually fish around Belmar area. I have a hard time finding fresh bunker, and sometimes good (BIG) clams.

I usually go to Den's at the marina but they never seem to have fresh bunker, and ive gotten some pretty small clams there at times.

The 2 best shops I've seen is Grumpy's down near IBSP and Fishermans Headquarters near LBI, but I dont want to drive that far (with the price of gas those bunkers
would be expensive)
Any good local baitshops around with good fresh bait?

feedback appreciated

When I fished up there, Scotts in Bradley was my regular stop. Clams were fresh but I dont recall bunker I often would just buy eels and fish the jetty's at night.

FWIW, It is no longer Scott's. Under new name/management. I think it's called something simple as "The Bait Shop". Don't carry as much "hardware" as they used too. Still had bunker and clams.

too bad about the demise of Scott's... they were the best shop in the area, guess just not enough interest in Bradley area to support them?

but at least there's still some shop there.

Most of the shops around there get their bait from the same sources, if one has small clams, very often they'll all have the same clams. As for fresh bunker, the Den is a very busy place and does get cleaned out on occasion, you should always call ahead.

If you're up in the Long Branch area Long Branch B&T 2 minutes up Atlantic Ave off Ocean Ave. is the place to go. They always have bait. If they're running low they'll send someone out to get it. Good prices too.

For me the issue was parking. I went to the old location often but parking at the new one was too much of a PIA, just went to the Den instead.

I don't know I never had an issue parking though I can see how it could be bad at times... just never was when I stopped by.

As to bait, don't know about Monmouth area but down south, I can tell you not all shops get their bait from the same source (or if they do they parcel it out differently... perhaps for friends or ???..whatever the case), nor is it all the same quality, so if you want specific types of bait you have to shop around. One shop *always* has the stankiest dang broken clams available, another always the freshest in the area, a third the best bloodworms around, a fourth just bad (only for emergencies). Why? who knows? I report, you decide

I drive an Excursion, damned thing is a PIA to park.
My bad I should have mentioned that - not fair to The Bait Shop not to have.
Parking is fine for regular sized vehicles
