Here are two sites that explain the process on how to create a NMS:

ok, so what does this really mean?

There are hundreds of boaters, and likely thousands of anglers, who utilized Sandy Hook Bay today.

Are they banning fishing there? What are they really trying to accomplish (besides bureaucratic overreach, as usual with the NPS/NOAA or any government agency) ?

And it's to extend up the Navesink/Shrewsbury, where there is a WMA utilized by hunters.... do they get banned as well?

The only positive is perhaps limited the number of PWCs that can buzz around (although I'm becoming a PWC owner in order to do some recreational clamming, among other things,
down my neck of the woods, uh, waters )

The bottom of the page on the first link reads Copyright 2014. Seems a little outdated. If it did not already happen then chances are it's not going to. IMO.

I don't fish the area as much as the past 30 years , to most this topic can be confusing . My fishing partner ( one of them ) attended a few of these meeting / hearings. He is a life long angler well educated about NJ fishery & is pretty well known around the fishing world . From what he has told me is that "Mr.**** requesting this sanctuary is pretty much FULL of himself & the need for this ANGLE is not necessary."

Please support people who are opposing this action.

Here is an article from The Fisherman.

https://www.thefisherman.com/index.c....5vEOULux.dpbs

This is the part that should get everyone's attention. It's not meant to be sensationalist, but these organizations are known to be deceptive.

Quote:
“What they promised in the original meetings in California was that it was only going to be a 2% restriction, but what ended up happening is that these environmental groups got close to 23% of waters closed to fishing and that’s had a serious access issue on the west coast.”

California's MLPAs are a State effort, not a Federal.

Being just one common man among the unwashed masses, I may not be smart enough to understand exactly what this is all about.

I do, however, get a very bad feeling about this. More special interests groups, more regulations, and less freedom to fish when and where I please. I am getting pretty damn tired of people inserting themselves, and imposing their own beliefs, onto virtually every aspect of life in New Jersey.

FYI: The G'Damn New Jersey Assembly is presently considering a law prohibiting Texting while WALKING!!! $250.00 Fine and 5 Days in Jail.

ANGLERS: ITS TIME TO STAND UP AND SAY ENOUGH! Sign the petition in opposition.

This persons ideals are a little unrealistic but what makes him dangerous is that he can hit a sweet spot to the local people who don't like ppl fishing in their neck of the woods
