Nomoco Outfront. Dawn patrol. An incoming tide to the top. Slight west wind and a strong moon tide with thigh high sets that broke straight , then ran up the incline with a white foamy strong left retreat that created a good churn at the lip. There were some nice pods of mullet and peanuts. The Albies were observed several times, but out of reach of several fly casters. I jiggle-bounced a hammered spoon and imitation spearing teaser and dropped a nice flat one in the wash, then all went quiet and I switched out to a high low rig catching a couple of shorts on the white plastic swirly tail teaser. All other shorts observed taken were on high low rigs with the low being a spearing.

Last night into the morning, hit a usual fall spot to see if I can pull up first bass of the fall. Only a couple cocktails while the night sun was out, around false dawn finally pulled in a little guy with stripes probably about 20inches, stuck around to see if the albies would make an appearance, but they were a no show. Still not much mullet was present, but the cast betters said that Thursday morning they were out in decent numbers. Be careful out there really strong currents and wave sets with the moon tides, especially if you're on some rocks.

Spending some time in Montauk with the family...did some fishing of the kayak...albies are all over...caught 4 yesterday and lost 2, and 2 today...one hit my fluke bucktail with gulp...go figure....it is so cool to see them blitz around the kayak...they fight so hard...my fluke setup barely survived

Nice compuser!!! I bet it was superfun!
I been out 3 times presunrise on the hunt for bass and blues off the beach and managed to get back before the wife woke! Skunked all 3 times as far as landing a fish. Today at the inlet at dawn there was something going through the spearing, somersaulted and missed my popper, i thought it was a blue/bass. I guess it was some albies,,,,dammit!

Small blues and hickories the first part of the afternoon, but nothing in the dark. A few guys just showing up looking for albies, which were a no show. Guess they'll just have to find computeruser up in Montauk.

Daybreak at the hook. 12 blues, 2 shad. Tried a couple things but 1oz kastmaster with bare hook got the most action.

After repeated muggings, remembered why i dont fish a popular spot on the weekend. After an hour , left them biting

It's amazing how a blitz of 6"blues and hickories will make people nuts That's why I love those rainy 15mph windy days No

nomoco out front this afternoon, tail end of the outgoing into the incoming. Lots of bait around, spearing a bit farther out + peanuts tight to the sand. Both getting harassed by blues + hickories. Lots of snappers with a few bigger ones (~16") mixed in. Some fellas trying to work the bottom for fluke but only saw a few shorts pulled in. Need the water to cool down and the big boys to show up, they'd be eating good....

albies did not show

Just walked off, ended the morning with two cocktails, dropped three others and caught my first albie on a little neck swimmer, fun fight. No signs of mullet or any bass. Surf is starting to flatten out.
