Did you launch from Lemon Creek? Fish have been more active at night (at least close to shore)
Yes we did...6.30am on the water ...among 3 of us not even one fish...better to say I did not have a fish shown on my fish-finder either...night fishing will get better and better as summer gets closer...

Our mistake was that we launched on Staten Island side and found no fish there...then paddled all the way over to Keansburg side, fished there for 2 hours and then returned to Princess bay...what a waste of time crossing the bay for hour and half each way...did not encounter and fish during our 3 hour trip...at the end it was worth it...marked a lot fish on NJ side but they were very picky...ended up catching two keepers at 32" and 29"....both on them on 6oz mojo
I must say that it was really frustrating to mark so much fish with so little to catch...I did not bother to circle around marked fish ...I would just keep going and the fish finder would be showing more of those arches...and all that in 10-15ft of water...after low tide the bite died and move elsewhere
You my friend are a soldier. A+++ for effort and dedication

I got out last night looking for blues. Not a tap, along with another guy looking for blues as well. The wind felt cold, so did the water. I think the front shut it down...?

Saturday started off great with eight quality bass within the first hour and then the fleet grew out of control and spread the fish out.

We bounced around from spot to spot picking a fish here and there. Decided to make a move far away from the fleet to some structure that has been good to me in the past.

We were rewarded right away and we absolutely beat on them for hours with eight double headers on the day.

To reply to that post on the previous page we always try to release the bigger fish caught aboard LockJaw and in general rarely keep any bass for ourselves.

If a charter wants to keep their limit of bass I will try to encourage them to keep the smaller 28-32" fish that are better eating and still plenty of meat.

This next fish that was caught (and released again) on Saturday is proof of how catch and release works even on fish that have suffered some more serious injuries.

slow start on the yak today. Launched at low tide from Union Beach. no marks at start, started marking as the tide started moving but still no takers. 2 hrs into the trip I picked up 2 nice fish right away, Bite on?....not. still marked here and there with no other takers. Started to head in when I picked up 3 more with the biggest at 32". 2 at 28 and 2 at 27. Good recovery after a poor start. (all still swimming)

We went out for a few hours Sunday evening and it took some time to catch enough bunker to chunk with.

We chunked from 7-11pm and ended up landing 9 bass to 25# and missed quite a few more along with a few bluefish cutoffs.

Seeing all those big bellied egg-filled girls makes me hope that people are releasing as many spring bass as possible. Keep 'em in the Fall!

We release 95%+ of our bass especially the big girls.

I am starting to see more and more boaters release the bigger fish as well.

C&R hasn't quite crossed over into the boating world in Raritan Bay but it's better than what we were seeing 5 years ago. Then you still have those with the kill everything mentality and blame it on the "commercial" guys when the fish disappear.

Yes, Bill, it was a good outing. Fun fishing with you again. The bucks are running large and feisty this season. Had half the roe for breakfast (yum) with tomorrow as a repeat!
