High/Low vs. Fish Finder rigs

been hearing a lot about the high low rigs from other surf casters out on Plum Island. I've pretty much always used a fish finder rig when surfing the beach at Plum Island. I'm wondering what your thoughts are on this. is one better than the other? is one used with certain bait? or is it just trial and error and personal preference?
I usually fish with either clams or chunk bait; herring, pogies, mackerel. sometimes I use worms but not often. Usually worms when fishing for flounder.

I personally use hi/lo for small baits, clams or small chunks.
FF rigs for large baits, bunker heads or big chunks.

thanks for the info. tied up some high low rigs and used them yesterday w/ clams on PI. had a great day catching schoolies!!!
