Question Re: 2016 Tropical Storm Thread

well certainly nothing to worry about for a while. Storm will decrease a bit before
intensifying, but it's actually

The models "seem" to be shifting the long range tracks much closer to the mainland now.. at this point, Carolina's / outer banks seem pretty certain
but not sure of points north of that:

Hurricane Matthew ain't coming around our area until end of the weekend.

Likelihood (most models) still show it hitting the outer banks then veering out to see, at least enough to miss the mid-atlantic/new york bight area.

Also, at this time, the worst of the storm is in a tight, 35 mile radius, however IF the storm remains a slow moving storm, the amount of rainfall any area that it hits could be epic... and that's what the islands are facing right now with upwards of 20"+ of rain expected in many places.

the top picture is the so-called "Euro" model, the one that accurately predicted Sandy's track for our area. However, for very technical reasons I don't understand, it's not been as reliable for this year's storms.

track right now:

Latest Euro 'high probability' model tracks Matthew into southern FL:

All members now track #Matthew into Florida at a Cat 4 intensity.

Well, blackfish season opens here in NY Wednesday. I hope to get in an hour or two Wednesday after work (provided I can escape early), and then I'm off Friday, so I can fish then. I have class all day Saturday, work all day Sunday - I may have to find time to pull the boat out of the water somewhere in there

Hopefully it blows past before the holiday Monday, and I can be right back in and fishing

eek Re: 2016 Tropical Storm Thread

It's coming to our area Sunday-ish, and later models are pulling it closer to mainland,

it's going to hit Florida as a cat 3 or 4
