Tough trip yesterday morning, good conditions and tides. Water was a bathtub, only could find 3 flatties in the honey hole, seems they hightailed it out to some cooler waters.

Had a group of poachers to the right of me, keeping short fluke and a short weakie. After some words with a few of the regulars at this spot, they kept doing it. Called the conservation officer and to my surprise they came out and busted them. Talked to the officer on the phone after I got home and she was super appreciative that we were looking out for things like this.

Good for you! I'm not to the beach that often, but maybe we should all have that phone number in our Contacts list. Could you post it for me?

Here's a post I just left in the Maine / NH Regional Forum....this is as close as I've been to a striper in a while and I thought I'd share it with you warm water folks.

I was visiting near Port Clyde last week and had one good evening when all the factors came together for me. Just the right timing for a full high tide, perfectly still air and a cove all to myself. I stood on a grass bank with my feet in the water watching and listening for signs that there might be striper moving on the bait fish. After about 45 minutes they started smacking around the edges of the cove and I started to cast with a small popper with just a dressed single hook and a black teaser. My first strike was from a 15" fish that took the teaser (my first ever fish on that one - tied it myself.)
Maybe 10 minutes later the popper got a smash strike and after a very nice fight landed a 25" fish. I fished for another hour with only one more swing and miss and then called it a good night. Saw 2 first class shooting stars, too, which made it even sweeter.

The Perseids are in town and you saw the beginning of it! I've spent many a beautiful night *without* connecting on anything, so congrats!

Here's the main number for any issues 877 927 6337. They'll dispatch it to a local officer and hopefully they respond. Their biggest issue is they are spread very thin so I know it's tough to get a quick response, but I'd rather call them than get in anymore physical altercations with people, god knows what they are capable of.

Good man crooked. I also have number saved in my phone. I saw guys keeping tog (which were spawning at the time) and didn't do nothing about it. For days and weeks i felt guilty about not doing anything. Not anymore, i call every time now.
Did a recon mission today. Found some promising areas for the nights to come...

Fished the Leonardo Fluke Masters tournament with Rui Goncalves and Roman Mielec. Action was really hard to come by and fishing felt a lot slower than what we have been experiencing recently with a lack of short fish. We ended up with a decent box of keepers just needed that one bigger fish to make it worth weighing in.

Porgy slaughter on Sunday with Hardy Wiedemann and Bill Burneyko (Bassturd).

3 man limit of 150 porgies by 10:30am. We spent the next couple of hours drifting in the ocean for a single keeper fluke and an unlimited amount of sea robins.

John, did you use a rod and reel or a trawler to haul them in.

50 per person, I gave away about two dozen of mine before I even got home. We put about a dozen in the freezer and the rest have been eaten or will be finished off tonight.
