Default English Fishing Show/Contest

I watched all the episodes recently of a show involving eight (or so) "anglers" from Britton and The Isles where they had a episode in a different country each time and at the end of each episode they sent one person packing. The people they had in this competition were supposed to be amongst the best they could find but in watching the show, I couldn't help but think I was missing something.
I mean I have loads of people that come out on my boat that are far, far better fishermen than any of the "contestants" on that show and I personally would love to compete on the show myself. Did anyone else see the show I'm referring to and feel the same way?
I know Frank has had some experience with British surfcasters and from what I gather, they are "pretty excellent" , particularly in the distance casting department. On the show, I doubt I would categorize any of the contestants as "pretty excellent" at any fishing style (though some of them were better fly fishermen/women than I am)....

I didn't see it but it sounds to me like we are forced to generalize about groups or nationalities based upon a limited exposure of a small cross section. Mindful of that Tuna bunch where the show producers are in way over their heads.

The English caster, Dave Dowcra who I took fishing at the request of SWS was the only Brit I ever entertained. Dave held all sorts of distance records of the time; kind of a Brit Ron Arra. Because he could cast and I could put him on some good Cape water, he did okay. He also went in Charley Whitney's boat in P-town and Dave said he far preferred to fish the beach with us. He caught blues and bass and was wildly impressed with Chatham Inlet.

Where you been?

I've been very busy. Work, fishing, fishery management issues,etc....
The Show is called "The Big Catch" from BBC and you can find it on Netflix. Except for possible superior fly fishing skills that two of the contestants have, in all other aspects I'd say that at least 80% of the people that fish with me at least a few times a year are better overall fishermen/women.
Fly fishing can be learned but googan instincts can't be washed out so quick.
These contestants are supposed to be good fishermen but they seemed very weak at best.

Typical poor directing which seems common in fishing shows. Producers are in over their heads. They don't belong there. Who knows better than you that fishing has its own body of knowledge. When run by googans, you see it right away. Now, take "Deadliest Catch". Producers know North Pacific crab fishing.
