Did some scouting yesterday after work to find an area with potential to hit today after work. Found a spot that looked fishy and apparently I was right because a bald eagle showed up with what looked like a 20 inch striper in its talons. Landed on the sand and began tearing up the fish. Hope the bald eagle reference doesn't give away too much info.
I'm going to give some swimbaits and bucktails a try and hope I can pop my 2016 striper virginity.

Are they close enough to cast net? Live lining or chunking them could be productive.

The menhaden were hanging in the shallow flats and shoreline that was at the 50 degree mark. You will have to play the rise and fall of the tide and the shoreline shallows being warmed by the day's sunlight before outgoing. YD

Bunker school was out of reach this afternoon during the bottom of the tide. Good news was they were about half mile off Chingagora creek with many large seagulls dive bombing and working the surface and something below causing the action. yd

I think the water is still too cold for any bass to be chaseing bunker, but you never know when there appitate will change.

Went out on Saturday to the spot I was scouting earlier. We didn't have much action but I did see a dead keeper striper floating around about 28 inches. Lots of bunker and spearing pods around. should be picking up in the next few weeks. Water temperature read 50 degrees at the place I was fishing, although it is a back back bay area.

If the temps stay steady, even at 48-50 you will catch. It's when they bounce around +- 8 deg in two or three days that the bite slows. 54 deg water two days ago then 46 today if it flatlined at 46 for a few days, guys will be posting pics by thurs

As I was coming south on the train today around 1230 through Bayyaker country and crossing over one of the two train bridges, there were birds working over the water pretty good just east of the bridge. Water was rough, very dirty and stained. Just thought I'd share. 33hemi!
