Default Plum Island beach buggy permit

Anyone know when and where the permits are sold?

Does the permit allow free access to the parking lots (1-8) along the main road before the whole beach is opened?

If I recall, the whole beach opens about the beginning of August when all the birds are gone. Is this correct?

Have an old copy of OTW that did a two part series on the beach so it isn't necessary to give me spots, as I know you are dying to do.

Buggy Permits are now available.

During the week at HQ and weekends at the guard shack if anyone is there.

From PTown to Plum Island...."working on it". Is it an ESA bird issue (fair enough, the law is the law, like it or not) or a management brain clot?

Well right now my concern is PI.
I will let you know when I know.
We have a few things cooking.
It's a hurry up and wait thing.
One thing I know is that they are not going to let us drive on till a clean up is done.
One of the things I am waiting on is a clean up date.

So I am told. The Refuge was closed when the floods came.
No one was allowed out to clean up what the Merrimack dumped there.

Something strange about the mangement of Plum. So, they close it from April to protect the plovers. The success rate for Plovers under their strict rules is less than the usually less severe rules of other beaches. They won't go out there, or put together some willing volunteers, to work around the plovers to clean it up. Now, when the birds leave , do they intend to keep it closed until they clean it up?

We can't drive over this, I hope we have lots of volunteers when the time comes.

Wow! That is a lot of garbage.

They don't need volunteers, more like the Army Corps of Engineers and a dozen bulldozers! (Supplimented by a prison work detail like they used after the floods to clean up the rest of the beach before Memorial Day weekend)

Was hoping to get my permit soon, and had hoped they would open up in August for night time walk on, but guess we will all have to wait....and wait....and wait....

Looks like the Enviro-Commies win again.

Plum Crazy, I don't know how you put up with the "Refuge Management". You must have the patience of a saint.
