Default An Evening Shot at Glory

I have my first and maybe last shot to hit the beach in a long time , and it looks like it'll be an all nighter at IBSP this coming Saturday / Sunday. I look forward to watching the stars wheel overhead and maybe catching a few fish. I'll be soaking bait, either clams or cut bait or both. I will be happy to catch might near anything. I've done this more than once over the last few years, but usually have more opportunities to brush up and get the feel of the beach again. Do you have any words of wisdom for the best use of my time? Thanks!

Night time in the park with bait I would use heavy wire leaders if you want a shot a landing your hook ups. Just watch your fingers.

Would it be shark that require the wire leaders?
8/0 big enough? 50# PowerPro OK? I've run into lots of Dogfish at night, but never hooked a toothy one. Is it OK to just cut a leader and send them on their way if the hook is not at the corner of their mouth. I value my digits and need them all for work.

Digits can be overrated! Think of the fantastic story that you will be able to tell.Don't forget the camera. Good Luck, Joe.

Sounds good to me.

BTW I use 125lb wire leader and make up my own. With the roll of wire, crimps and pliers it very easy to do. Grumpys has every thing you need and the advise on how to use it. Tell him I sent ya.

Maybe I'll catch something harmless like a blue by accident. Thanks for the advice, all.
