Default Goodbye Minivan...

So...I bit my tongue when we sold the Cherokee and bought a minivan almost 6 years ago, now the wife is ready to go back to an SUV. The search is on.

Still need the 7 passenger possibility to toss extra kids in the back.

Thinking about a certified preowned 06 Pathfinder SE, any thoughts on them? How is a pathfinder on the sand at IBSP?

Any other suggestions?

We're running a 6cyl Explorer. Seats 7, including driver. Rear seats fold down for a decent cargo compartment and still leaves me space for 4 passengers. Runs great on the beach except for the deepest ruts (plows a bit) and is a comfortable ride. My only complaint is the mileage. We get 15/16 local and 18/19 highway.

Thanks Ed, I haven't completely ruled out Exporer's...I've owned two Fords.

I see a lot of them on the beach, and they seem to do fine. I would go back to the Cherokee, tie the kids to the roof...
Certified preowned? Another BS selling point. You know better than that...

Not really, dealer does all the legwork to verify condition of car, tells me where the car came from and its history, (do you know how many 'rental cars' get into the used market?) factory inherits risk and slaps on big extended warranty, Frank doesn't take hit on new car depreciation and gets like new car...oh yeah and you can borrow from the factory at new car rates.

I'm all for someone I know who needs to sell an SUV that I can trust but that's not a likely possibility and dumping 30k on new one or 15-17k on a used one with no factory warranty is not fiscally responsible for me...

I bought my Accord like that, half the price of a new one. 3 years old, 23K miles. Now 95k miles later, 4 tires and one set of front brake pads....it needs a tuneup.

Pathfinder should do great providing it can do full time 4X4 which from the ones I have worked on can.

Well then congrats on your new sand sled.

If you need any driving tips with that talk to ED. He has one just like that.
Just bring lots of extra keys if he goes out with you.

Thanks, I figure Ed liked it in the sand and my brother has had good luck with them in the sand and driving over lava fields... so I'd go American.

Now I get to go out and buy some toys for the toy!
