as Dandy Don used to say: turn out the lights, the party is OVER.

Tex out. AJ can't help but pitch himself into misery. Who didn't know Benjie was trouble for AJ (not expecting an HR, but I KNEW he was going to get a hit).

in the dumps, I am bailing now.

I'm not sure this was a miracle cure, or rather just a dose of chemo for a terminally ill patient (no offense intended to any one).

Today was nice to watch, up til 6:30 I watched the game via slingbox and listened to francessa on the fan's commentary. Much better than the blabber of either 880 or TBS.

Swisher is killin' us, Tex was (and by proxy IS since now he's out we have to have Berg-I-can-only-hit-left-handed-man). Thymes has the deer-in-the-headlights look.

Still feel no matter what, they are toast...but perhaps it will be entertaining until the end.

Wow Rob you are really showing your age, Don Meredith did his last MNF game in 1984, that is 26 years ago!

I'm still sticking with 7 games for the ALCS! All depends upon the Yankees starting pitchers doing well because aside from Wood & Mo the rest of them are shitting their jock straps.

I just hope the Phillies make it back to Philadelphia but the Giants are getting every break and playing well over their heads.

pretty much everyone in Philly was resigned that Blanton and co were not going to do much, but the Phillies have a similar problem as the Yanks: they just aren't hitting all that well. I believe I heard that Utley was 0-fer, either in the series (no, I'm not looking it up) or with men on base (which is more believable).

The Giants have everything going for them right now, with the Freak coming up to close it out.

Wait! Don't the Yankees have to face a freak in game 7??!??

Pitching! Pitching! Pitching!

Andy Pettite was the only Yankee starter who performed as expected!

No wait, I'm wrong AJ Burnett also performed as expected - LIKE A LOAD OF CRAP.

Can someone explain why CC wasnt 1 -4 and 7 starter? Girardi sux

Dont blame AJ, he made one "bad" pitch, Molina did an excellent job of collapsing his arms and drove the pitch...besides he should have never been out there just relegating to mop up to save the pen when needed.

The Skanks pitching was a pathetic as their hitting...

You can't win when you don't hit like they did. Girardi can't make them hit, but he is responsible for some piss-poor decisions with the pen.

When Hughes threw away the intentional walk first pitch, I knew he was toast. So why then pitch to Guerero? This was the same stupid move (or lack thereof) he made with Burnett.

They claim the bullpen was "all hands on deck", really???? Then why bring in Robertson who himself blew up in game 2?

All of the (lack of) pitching truly was academic though. They batted under .100 with runners in scoring position compared to Texas .300+. Lewis is NOT a dominant pitcher. They made him look like Cy Young.

Gardner - nada
Swisher - 1 somewhat meaningless home run for the series
Arod - something like 5 hits for the series, not sure if any RBI
Jeter - a few big hits other than that Nada
Thames - deer in the headlights all series
Texiera - was out before he was out. 0-fer
Posada - I really didn't expect much from him, although he rides the wave. Had the Yankees been hitting, he would have
gotten a few pitches he could have handled
Berkman - again, I didn't expect much from him. And he didn't disappoint.
Cano - missing in action last night (though he cannot be faulted for the series at all)
Granderson - did his job overall

Granderson had a .294 overall avg for the series
Cano - .348

Overall Yankee team batting avg - .201
Overall Texas team batting avg - .301

The Yankees, had they performed like they did when clicking during the regular season, should have out hit Texas easy. Instead, something happened to them down the stretch and they never recovered.

another shocker, though not ny, was the Phillies. For most of the series, Utley looked like he was in outer space. And for all the series Howard was lost at the plate. Of course he would be the one to look at strike 3 to end the series.

Phillies are the biggest shock. I thought they would annihilate any team they met in the NLCS.

Technically I should root for the Giants over the Rangers but it's torture watching the Giants play - they can pitch but they can't hit. Giant's pitchers must all have ulcers and suffer from stress. I'm wondering if the Giants pitchers will be able to shut down the Rangers, odds are in their favor but the Rangers sure can hit.

Game 1: Lee versus Lincecum should be good. I think Lee will win simply because the Rangers are the excellent fastball hitters.

HOWEVER, last night my wife said, "Rangers and Giants means I don't have to watch the World Series."

That could be the story of this World Series - No one watching.

I agree that the ratings will be way down. I believe Texas should win hands down, unless they go into a collective hitting slump. The only way that happens is if last night's plate umpire is calling the game as that guy guaranteed a low score by giving pitchers over 6" outside the black!!! Couldn't be-lieve some of the strike calls.

Anyhow, to get those who WILL watch ready:
