Exclamation Fishing Reports Winter 2020

Well the new year is here now and as you know the back side is now closed until 3/1 for Stripers.

I hope 2019 was a good season for all of you.
Now lets see what 2020 has in store for us.

Don't forget the "Saltwater Registration" now that it's a new year.

As always don't be to specific of an area your fishing.

We enjoy reading your reports. Surf, boats, fresh water are all good.. Pictures are even better.
Good luck, have fun and be safe.

Striped Bass or Hybrid Striped Bass
1 fish at 28 inches to less than 43 inches
1 fish at 43 inches or greater

Got out on the last day of 2019 to a local fw pond and picked up a nice slab of a crappie on a minnow.

Plan to get out over the winter as work and weather allow.

Happy 2020 All!

Dreaded first cast, fish-on, morning. Then not another tap. Gotta love the air temps though.

1/3, I broke the ice! I caught my first (and only) striped one of the new year. AV17-green tail, Long Branch. I started about dawn and fished until 11:00. I only had one other bump. The water was beautiful, though, and the forecast rain was nearly absent. I was the only one I saw fishing. All in all, I will call it a fine morning.

I was trudging up the steps and spoke with a guy who had fished most of the night. He's a local and said he was out of work and couldn't sleep anyway. His report for that area is that there are still lots of fish to be found and that not much at all was active in the dark. He did say that dawn and dusk had very good action, particularly on light tackle throwing smaller swimming minnow plugs and jig heads with paddle tails in darker colors.
Happy New Year everybody!

Joseph, I did the evening tour tonight in the same area. 2 solid hits, a couple of bumps and that was it. I've been having more luck during the AM tour

Thanks, BT. I'm not sure if I'll be able to get back for a while, but I do appreciate the word from the beach.

Did anybody lose a left handed chartreuse work glove with the index and thumb cut short?
It looked like a fisherman might have dropped it on the beach at Long Branch.

No love for me this AM. Great conditions, 1 inch of snow on the ground when I left the house, slight SW wind, pretty good water quality. Not even a bump. Is it over?

I don't but if I get some time, I'll check with my local rod builder...maybe by the weekend if no one pipes up before.

Ping me if I forget. He's a true old timer and a wealth of knowledge.

It's not quite over yet but, we are in that 1 hit 1 fish scenario.

Bay, here's a couple of pics of my Dad's Lami. We had it made for him back in late 60's early 70's . I used it several times after I re-wrapped it about 30 years ago. (yes, I have socks older than some of the guys on here )
