Did you get the package, internet, TV and phone? Yes, the base is 94.99 an month

How does the TV work? One or mutiple TV. each TV needs a set top box, if not you only get 26 basic channels until April 09 then their will be no more analog TV and every one will need some kinda box/digital TV

I am thinking of making the change but it may mean upgarde PC OS. Works with Windows 2000 and newer, the slower 5/2 and 10/2 work with older versions.

Well, there is a dark horse option: get a Sprint smartphone (e.g., 6700 PDA phone), get the $15/month unlimited mobile data option, and run it "tethered" off your PC. The speed is not bad (EVDO), the price can't be beat, and it's mobile.

This gives you both voice and data for not much more than the cost of mobile service. However, you're still stuck with what to do for video, and there's no suitable option for wireless access for mor than one PC (i.e., can't hook up a WiFi router to it).

As for me, I can't wait for FIOS. Trucks laid fiber this past summer here in Summit, but Verizon says I can't buy it till 4Q07 - which probably means January or so.

Meanwhile I use Comcast for video and data, and layer Vonage on top for VoIP.

Well, it's been a year...some numbers for review.

14 down, 4.6 up in most recent test (and that's on the wireless connection )

No breakdowns, outages except for a remote that went bad...

My new bill went up by $10..so that a base price of $105....for internet, TV and phone....

I signed up for the "triple play" offer, getting a free 19" hdtv in the process.

Have to admit that Verizon is one of the worst companies to deal with w.r.t. customer service. It took them 2 1/2 months, and no fewer than 10 horrendous "voice response system"-to-get-me-to-a-human-being phone calls to finally get everything straightened out w.r.t. billing, and the offer (and I won't know for sure if everything is done correctly until my *next* bill...) and even at that, the promotion I received (the free tv) is not the promotion they said they'd give me (a $200 best buy gift card) after all was said and done.

I've seen that site, but now will have it bookmarked

I actually learned to use the suggested strategy for Verizon by trial and error!

The other noteworthy item for FIOS is to essentially always go to billing for all issues... they have access to better backend systems than the other call centers

Why do I know? Because I was an "exception"... ie someone who already had FIOS internet and was upgrading to the triple play.
All their systems were programmed to expect either phone -> triple play or new -> triple play *LOL*.

when I or anyone other than the billing agent tried to setup my order, the system would barf.

Remember FIOS fans...when your year contract is up, call them, they'll renew it for $99 a month...

If you switch from cable, they will come knocking on your door to get you back.

Get their best deal, call Verizon, and FIOS will match the deal.

I am saving $30 a month off of what already was a good deal.

Competition is great

Comcrap offered me the 16meg download speed for an extra $10 a month along with a few more HD channels.
I told them I wasn't interested in the HD stuff and for the higher speed what good is it when they have a CAP on your bandwidth.
I've already got shut down once for using too much. With the increase it would only get me shut down faster.
She was at a loss for words..

I still can't get Fios here yet.

I had a horrible time getting the FIOS "triple play" installed but after three on-site attempts and countless phone calls, it was finally done in March. It's been worth the aggravation so far with near-flawless service and performance - all for $80 less per month than Cablevision (TV and internet) and regular Verizon phone service combined. This with superior Internet data speed (20 MB down as opposed to 5 MB with Cablevision) and sharper, cleaner TV images. I chose to have the price locked for two years and I'm glad I did.
