A bunch...? I am to the point where a couple of dinks lost in the wash sets me running for my fishing log!

Looking back at my photos from 5-10 years ago. The fall run sure was different. Big blues, big bass, peanuts washing up on the beach. Something is wrong.

from the beach in Florida; I got s sheepshead in the river which makes my 11th species of saltwater fish since late October; blues in the surf every day; had 3 attacked and bitten off by sharks, a couple right in the wash; yesterday at dusk had a few a little bigger and had a blow up on one but I was able to yank away from little Jaws; blue had a small bite mark but I landed him; score was now Sharks 3 Bill 1; later hooked one on a topwater and right in front of mein the wash got taken and sliced the braid; Sharks 4 Bill 1; but I'm working on my defense so I'm in the game

I had the best day of my season yesterday. I worked through the morning and then took off and hit the beach in Seaside at just about exactly high tide at 1:00. The wind was zero to 10 at my back and the water just about oily smooth. From where I walked on the beach I could see a scattering of guys, and a few driving up and down.
I ended up with 11 or 12 fish up to 25" on an Ava rig, about half on the teaser, and missed a few other solid hits, too.

I think it was all sand eel action because most of my fish were in the same area as a busy flock of little diving birds that were working within casting distance inside the outer bar. I could see them well enough to watch them come up with eels and swallow them. Several of my fish hit at the very extreme end of my cast, one as the Ava sank. Only a couple were right tight to the beach.
I caught fish up until dark when I set out on the 2 hour ride home. I've read that I probably should have stayed and fished the dark, when the bigger fish show up, but I was beat.
Oh, and I saw a lot of herring jumping around about 20 feet from the wash. Nothing hitting on them, but they're there.

lost another nice fish last night at dusk; made 3 runs on my drag and got it into the wash and.....bang....Sharks 5 Bill 1; more blues this morning; locals think the 3 lbers are big; I'm letting them know that they need to visit NJ in May and catch multiple 6-10 lbers in a half hour and back off the surf to rest your arms....that's bluefish; but I'm having fun with these

Thanks YD.

I know I'm maybe too wordy, but I love doing this and talking / writing just extends the experience for me.

I'm heading back there tomorrow PM and bringing my buddy to get him hooked up, I hope. Nice weather forecast: SW wind at 8 to 16 and 49F.

Didn't reach double digits this morning (although did get 1 double ). Made a move about an hour too late, just caught the tail end of a bite.
