Default Montauk 10/10 no bass blitzes

Was out east today to bring a boat home. Before the long ride west we spent a few hours chasing & catching albies.

While the albies were good, there were no bass blitzes happening.

Just thought I'd pass along the info & maybe save someone from a long drive for no bass (other than resident fish).

That said, guys from the surf were definitely getting a few shots in at the albies.

guess I'll have to actually schedule a trip out there for albies... which were in here for a little while, though I didn't hear of anything consistent enough for flyrodding from shore, which is what I want to do.

That's a lofty goal. They were close to the beach on the south side, but you'd have to cover a lot of ground to keep up with them. They were definitely in range for spinning gear, but I don't think you would have gotten many shots with the fly.

Weather looks poor for this week.

I had shots at them back when they were really abundant one year, but you need the bait and calm surf or them thick enough to run the false hook, Sri or squan inlets... AND you need time, of which I'm sorely lacking

Was in Montauk this weekend. Most of the action was on the south side and the incoming morning bite the best. However this is not the Montauk from lets say 5 years ago. Small pods of fish working back and forth but nowhere near the number of fish Ive seen before.

It's a little late, but I don't think the migration has really begun. Mostly resident fish right now.
