'Unleash Hell': New Al Qaeda magazine describes in detail how to start huge forest fires across the U.S..with instructions on how to make 'ember bombs'
Al Qaeda has called upon its followers to unleash massive forest fires upon the United States this summer.Published in the latest edition of the notorious terror magazine,

'Inspire', are graphic instructions for the creation and ignition of 'ember bombs'Detailed in the memorably titled, 'It is of your Freedom to Ignite a Firebomb', the magazine encourages any would-be terrorist to target Montana, because of the rapid population growth in its wooded areas.

A fire burning out of control in a pine forest on the Mescalero Apache Indian Reservation in New Mexico: Al Qaeda has issued instructions to its followers to start intentional fires in the United States'In America, there are more houses built in the countryside than in the cities,' explained the writer known as The AQ Chef according to ABC News.'It is difficult to choose a better place than in the valleys of Montana.'

AWOL Muslim soldier guilty in Fort Hood bomb plot

WACO, Texas (AP) ? Walking around a gun store one day last summer, the young man never took off his sunglasses as he asked questions about items he piled on the counter ? behavior that struck the manager as odd.

Pfc. Naser Jason Abdo had already traveled hundreds of miles since going AWOL from Fort Campbell, Ky., three weeks earlier. He bought a gun from an online seller in Nashville and paid cash for thousands of dollars of bomb-making components at a major Dallas-area retail store. Trying to avoid being caught, he wore a baseball cap and sunglasses most of the time, never used credit cards while staying in motels and traveling by bus or cab, and he had his roommate's driver's license.

But his luck ran out in Killeen, a city about 150 miles southwest of Dallas and near one of the nation's largest Army posts ? Fort Hood. Guns Galore manager Cathy Cheadle "just had this feeling" about him. She and an employee talked about it and then called police ? who had Abdo in custody less than 24 hours later at a motel, where authorities say he had started to build a bomb. Police hadn't even known his name or background until they detained him.

A federal jury Thursday convicted Abdo, a Muslim soldier, on six charges in connection with his failed plot to blow up a Texas restaurant full of Fort Hood troops, his religious mission to get "justice" for the people of Iraq and Afghanistan.

But did you read that the British government is going to force the Church of England to perform gay marriages? No joke, the Church of England is the official religion and the government can impose whatever regulations it wants. The Church of England has protested but will lose.

The FBI is investigating more than 100 suspected Muslim extremists who are part of the U.S. military community

The FBI has conducted more than 100 investigations into suspected Islamic extremists within the military, NPR has learned. About a dozen of those cases are considered serious.

Officials define that as a case requiring a formal investigation to gather information against suspects who appear to have demonstrated a strong intent to attack military targets. This is the first time the figures have been publicly disclosed.

The FBI and Department of Defense call these cases "insider threats." They include not just active and reserve military personnel but also individuals who have access to military facilities such as contractors and close family members with dependent ID cards.

I was surprised and struck by the numbers, they were larger than I expected.

- Sen. Joseph Lieberman, who co-chaired a hearing on internal threats to the military

Officials would not provide details about the cases and the FBI would not confirm the numbers, but they did say that cases seen as serious could include, among others things, suspects who seem to be planning an attack or were in touch with "dangerous individuals" who were goading them to attack.

Details Revealed At Closed Congressional Hearing

The FBI and the Department of Defense declined to discuss the figures on the record, but three sources with direct knowledge confirmed that the numbers were revealed in a closed session of a House-Senate committee hearing in December. The FBI also declined to say whether it has compiled more up-to-date figures since that time.

"I know one can say that as a percentage of the millions of people in active military service or working with contractors, the numbers you talk about are a small percentage of the total, but the reality is it only took one man, Nidal Hasan, to kill 13 people at Fort Hood and injure a lot more," Lieberman said.

Hasan was an Army major at Fort Hood in Texas who is charged with opening fire on soldiers in the base's processing center in November 2009. The rampage is considered the most serious terrorist attack on U.S. soil since the Sept. 11 attacks.

Prosecutors say Hasan had been in touch with an American-born radical imam, Anwar al-Awlaki, to ask for spiritual guidance ahead of the shooting; and Awlaki is said to have blessed it. Awlaki was killed in a drone attack in Yemen last year.

Investigators also say Hasan had been displaying signs of increasing radicalization before the shooting took place, but the behavior had not been properly reported. Hasan's court-martial is set to begin on Aug. 20, and he faces the death penalty.

The FBI compiled its tally of Islamic extremist cases in the military late last year for a joint hearing that Lieberman co-chaired. The hearing was looking at possible threats to military communities inside the United States, and the number of cases was revealed at that time.

About A Dozen Cases Face Full Investigation

The FBI typically divides investigations into three categories: assessment, preliminary investigations, and then full investigations in which agents have enough evidence to justify using all the investigative tools at their disposal. As of last December, there were a dozen cases in that last category.

"This number speaks not only to the reality that there is a problem of violent Islamic extremists in the military, but also that the Department of Defense and the FBI since the Nidal Hassan case are working much more closely together," said Lieberman.

Officials stressed that the FBI and the Department of Defense track all kinds of extremism within the military community from white supremacists to neo-Nazis, not just Islamic extremists.

But the Fort Hood shooting inspired new reporting procedures aimed at catching plots before they unfold. Since 2001, law enforcement officials have foiled and prosecuted more than 30 plots or attacks against military targets within the United States.

Just last month, an AWOL Muslim soldier named Naser Abdo was convicted of plotting to attack Fort Hood. Officers found components for an explosive device in Abdo's hotel room not far from the base.

Abdo told the judge that the plot was supposed to exact some "justice" for the people of Afghanistan and Iraq. In an audio recording played during the trial, Abdo said his Islamic faith was part of the reason he planned the attack.

Lieberman says that Abdo actually called out Major Hasan's name shortly after he was found guilty of conspiring to attack a restaurant just outside Fort Hood where active service members often went with their families. Abdo is expected to be sentenced in July. It is not clear whether his case was one of the cases on the FBI's list.

Military Bases Considered Likely Targets

Officials say for many aspiring violent jihadis a military base is seen as fair game for an attack. Al-Qaida's narrative revolves around the idea that America is at war with Islam the world over, and the perception is that the U.S. military is at the forefront of that battle.

Counterterrorism officials say that for many freshly minted jihadists, a military target is an easier choice and easier to justify than targeting a shopping mall or other soft civilian targets ? precisely because it is seen as part and parcel of the battle.

"After the Fort Hood shooting, having just one serious case, much less having a dozen, is cause for concern," says Bruce Hoffman, a professor and counterterrorism expert at Georgetown University and a distinguished scholar at the Wilson Center.

"You have to think about how people in the military community aren't just your run-of-the-mill jihadis," Hoffman says. "These are people who have access to guns and to bases and are supposed to have security clearances. This is not the community you want to be radicalizing."

The FBI is investigating more than 100 suspected Muslim extremists who are part of the U.S. military community, officials tell NPR. U.S. authorities have increased scrutiny since the 2009 shooting attack at Fort Hood, Texas, that left 13 dead. Maj. Nidal Hasan, charged with the killings, is shown here in an April 2010 court hearing.

Christians stoned by American Muslims in Dearborn as police watch

A disturbing video posted Tuesday by The United West shows a small group of sign-carrying Christians attacked and stoned at the 2012 Arab Festival in Dearborn, Michigan.

Worse yet, the police took no action against the attackers, telling the Christians they were the problem, instead of the mob who engaged in numerous acts of assault and battery.

The 22-minute video shows a number of attacks made against the Christians by adults and children repeatedly hurling profanities in addition to rocks, garbage, water bottles and crates.

According to the United West, Wayne County Deputy Chief Mike Jaafar "summed up his situational awareness of the 2012 Dearborn Arab Festival in the Dearborn Patch by stating, 'No official arrests were made, and Jaafar said his team was pleased with the overall outcome.'?

But United West says the video exposes "what really happened" at 6:10 p.m.

Alan Kornman wrote:
Wayne County Sheriff Department (WCSD) Deputy Chief Jaafar, in the video, appears to be part of the top leadership controlling ground operations at the festival along with Ms. Ursula K. Henry, Director of Legal Affairs for the WCSD. Deputy Chief Jaafar is shown in the video consulting Ms. Henry on what to do with Mr. Ruben Israel. That is until Chief Jaafar lost his professionalism, got in Mr. Israel?s face and unloaded an emotional rhetorical barrage for the whole world to see.
Later, Deputy Chief Jaafar informed the group they were at fault even though they were the target of the lawless mob.

?It?s not your call. We?ve been very gentle and very, very respectful to you and you are jeopardizing public safety. And you need to understand it?s gone overboard. We don?t have the coverage to protect you and if we have two officers who can protect you it would work great but it?s impossible to do so. You're attracting a crowd and you're affecting public safety, you need to understand that,? he said.

Later, as the group was being escorted out of the area, the video shows twelve extra police officers that could have been assigned to protect the Christians.

"The bottom line is Mr. Ruben Israel and his friends were viciously attacked by an angry mob and the WCSD watched it happen," Kornman wrote.
Despite the vicious attacks against them, the Christians did not strike back.

Kenya police: church attacks kill 15, wound 40

NAIROBI, Kenya (AP) ? Gunmen killed two policemen guarding a church, snatched their rifles and then opened fire on the congregation from inside and out on Sunday, killing 15 people and wounding 40, security officials said.

Two gunmen entered the simple wooden church in the city of Garissa at around 10:15 a.m. Sunday, while two others waited outside, police commander Philip Ndolo said. When the congregation fled the attack inside, they ran straight into another hail of bullets from gunmen outside, he said. At least one grenade was detonated in the attack.

Overturned wooden benches littered the church afterward. A victim wearing a simple blue dress lay on the sandy earth outside. Witnesses reported seeing the four gunmen flee in dark blue outfits and masks.

"We were deep in prayers preparing to give our offerings," said a visibly shaken David Mwange, a churchgoer. "We first had a loud bang from outside which we mistook to be coming from the rooftops. We then had gun shots which made us to lie down. Within no time we had gunshots all over. Everybody was shouting and wailing in pain."

The bloodiest of the two attacks came against the African Inland Church in Garissa, a city some 195 kilometers (120 miles) west of the Somali border. Ndolo said 15 people were killed and at least 40 wounded. A grenade attack against a second church in Garissa wounded three people.

Garissa Mayor Ismail Garat called the church assault "evil."
"We are not used to witnessing such kinds of acts in our country, where people are just shot in broad daylight. We really want to know who the heartless people who did this are," he said.

Ndolo told reporters he wanted an investigation carried out before assigning blame to the group many people in this region assume is at fault: al-Shabab, the most dangerous militant group in Somalia.

Another security official said two attackers walked up to the two policemen guarding the church, shot them at point-blank range and took their rifles. The official spoke only on condition he wasn't identified because he is not allowed to speak to media.

The police were guarding the church because of the increasingly dangerous security situation near the border with Somalia and because Somalia's Islamist militants have made Christian churches a common target.

The Vatican spokesman condemned the "vile" and "disgraceful" attacks and said they showed the necessity of defending the rights of Christians to celebrate their faith and "oppose irresponsible acts that fuel hatred among religions."

The White House also condemned the attacks, saying: "At a time of transition, peace and stability are essential to Kenya's progress. We support those who recognize Kenya's ethnic and religious diversity as one of the country's greatest strengths."

Garissa is one of two major Kenyan towns near the border with Somalia. It lies just to the west of the Dadaab refugee camp, which houses nearly 500,000 Somali refugees.
On Friday armed attackers kidnapped four international workers with the Norwegian Refugee Council and are believed to have taken them over the border into Somalia.

A top security official suggested after that assault that the attackers came from within the camp. Kenyan officials have long complained Dadaab and its inhabitants are a threat to Kenya's security. Kenyan officials hope to see the Dadaab refugees move back to Somalia, but they cannot force the refugees to move without breaking international law and courting wide international condemnation.

Areas of northern and eastern Kenya along the border with Somalia have suffered a series of gunfire and grenade attacks over the last year. Militants attacked a church in Garissa in December, killing two people.

Kenya sent troops into Somalia last October to hunt al-Shabab fighters. The militants, who are allied with al-Qaida, have threatened repeatedly to carry out revenge attacks for Kenya's push into Somalia. Sunday's attacks appear to be part of that trend

Muslim congressman has plans for your child's school
Now that the Bible, prayer and most positive references to Christianity have been forced out of public schools, a U.S. lawmaker ? who prides himself on being only the second Muslim elected to Congress ? has stepped forward to fill the vacuum ...

A U.S. lawmaker ? who prides himself on being only the second Muslim elected to Congress ? has declared that America ?needs Muslims? and U.S. public schools should be modeled after Islamic madrassas, ?where the foundation is the Quran.?

In a dramatic video dated May 26, U.S. Rep. Andre Carson, D-Ind., addressed an Islamic Circle of North America convention, saying the aftermath of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks was hard on Muslims and that Americans should look to Muslim schools for guidance.
At the 6:19 mark, Carson declares:

?America will never tap into educational innovation and ingenuity without looking at the model that we have in our madrassas, in our schools, where innovation is encouraged, where the foundation is the Quran. And that model that we are pushing in some of our schools meets the multiple needs of students.

?Most of us are visual learners. Some of us are auditor learners ? we learn by hearing. Many of us are kinesthetic learners. We learn by doing, touching, feeling. I have found ? that we need an educational model that is current, that meets the need of our students. America must understand that she needs Muslims.?
He adds, ?There are over 7 million Muslims in this country. And while we are under attack, we cannot retreat.?

Carson is married to Mariama Shaheed Carson, public-school principal of Snacks Crossing Elementary School in Indianapolis, Ind.

These are quotes from the Koran.

Infidels, Unbelievers and Non-Muslims

Let not believers make friends with infidels in preference to the faithful - he that does this has nothing to hope for from Good - except in self-defense. God admonishes you to fear Him: for to God shall all return.
Quran 3:28; "The Imrans," Dawood, p. 52

God's curse be upon the infidels! Evil is that for which they have bartered away their souls. To deny God's own revelation, grudging that He should reveal His bounty to whom He chooses from among His servants! They have incurred God's most inexorable wrath. An ignominious punishment awaits the unbelievers.
Quran 2:89-2:90, "The Cow," Dawood, p. 13

Lord...Give us victory over the unbelievers.
Quran 2:286, "The Cow," Dawood, p. 46
"Lord...give us victory over the unbelievers."
Quran 3:148, "The Imrans," Dawood, p. 67

I shall cast terror into the hearts of the infidels. Strike off their heads, strike off the very tips of their fingers.
Quran 8:12, "The Spoils," Dawood, p. 177

Fight for the sake of God those that fight against you, but do not attack them first. God does not love the aggressors.
Slay them wherever you find them. Drive them out of the places from which they drove you. Idolatry is worse than carnage.
Quran 2:190-2:191, "The Cow," Dawood, p. 28

When the sacred months are over slay the idolaters wherever you find them. Arrest them, besiege them, and lie in ambush everywhere for them.
Quran 9:5; "Repentance," Dawood, p. 186

Prophet, make war on the unbelievers and the hypocrites and deal rigorously with them. Hell shall be their home: an evil fate.
Quran 9:73, "Repentance," Dawood, p. 198

Believers, make war on the infidels who dwell around you. Deal firmly with them. Know that God is with the righteous.
Quran 9:123, "Repentance," Dawood, p. 206

Garments of fire have been prepared for the unbelievers. Scalding water shall be poured upon their heads, melting their skins and that which is in their bellies. They shall be lashed with rods of iron.
Whenever, in their anguish, they try to escape from Hell, back they shall be dragged, and will be told: "Taste the torment of the Conflagration!"
Quran 22:19-20, "The Pilgrimage," Dawood, p. 333

Muhammad is God's apostle. Those who follow him are ruthless to the unbelievers but merciful to one another.
Quran 48:29, "Victory," Dawood, p. 514

Those that deny Our revelations We will burn in fire. No sooner will their skins be consumed than We shall give them other skins, so that they may truly taste the scourge. God is mighty and wise.
Quran 4:56, "Women," Dawood, p. 86

Those that make war against God and His apostle and spread disorder in the land shall be slain and crucified or have their hands and feet cut off on alternate sides, or be banished from the land.
Quran 5:33, "The Table," Dawood, p. 112

When you meet the unbelievers in the battlefield strike off their heads and, when you have laid them low, bind your captives firmly.
Quran 47:4, "Muhammad," Dawood, p. 506

Let not the unbelievers think that they will ever get away. They have not the power to do so. Muster against them all the men and cavalry at your command, so that you may strike terror into the enemy of God and your enemy...
Quran 8:59-60, "The Spoils," Dawood, p. 183

Believers, take neither the Jews nor the Christians for your friends. They are friends with one another. Whoever of you seeks their friendship shall become one of their number. God does not guide the wrong-doers.
Quran 5:51, "The Table," Dawood, p. 116

Believers, know that the idolaters [non-Muslims] are unclean. Let them not approach the Sacred Mosque after this year is ended.
Quran 9:28, "Repentance," Dawood, p. 190

The unbelievers among the People of the Book [Bible] and the pagans shall burn for ever in the fire of Hell. They are the vilest of all creatures.
Quran 98:6, "The Proof," Dawood, p. 598

Easy...make the muslims go to a Christian service first and pray to Jesus...

The Islamic Cultural Center of Tulsa did not return calls or emails from FoxNews.com, but a promotional flier for the event cited in the suit states the event would include meetings with Muslim community leaders, a tour of the center's mosque, talks on Islam, as well as a 45-minute prayer service."
Oklahoma police captain sues department over mosque assignment

By Mike Jaccarino
Published August 16, 2012
FoxNews.com

A Tulsa police officer and devout Christian is suing his department after being punished for refusing to go to a mosque for a mandatory cultural event.
Police Capt. Paul Campbell Fields, a 17-year veteran, was docked two weeks' pay, transferred, reduced to the graveyard shift and made ineligible for promotions for at least a year, after he told his chief his faith made it impossible for him to attend a "Law Enforcement Appreciation Day" at the Islamic Cultural Society of Tulsa, according to the lawsuit.
Fields, 43, is a non-denominational Christian, who quoted Scripture in legal explanation of his insubordination.

"This event is compelling me to go to a venue where a group of individuals is prepared to discuss their (Islamic) faith," Fields said during a May 2012 deposition, the transcript of which was obtained by FoxNews.com. "And in my faith, I have a duty to proselytize my faith to people (who) don't subscribe to my faith. I can't do that in uniform. And so therein lies the conflict or moral dilemma I face."

Fields' attorney, Robert Muise of The American Freedom Law Center, elaborated, "He was going to be in a place where people were going to refer to Jesus Christ as merely a prophet and not his Lord and Savior.

"And he wouldn't be able to respond to them in any way," Muise added. "That was very troubling to him."

Fields is seeking his docked pay, attorney's fees, as well as compensatory damages for the "humiliation" -- and damage to his reputation -- he suffered as a result of the affair.

The donnybrook has its origins in a Jan. 25, 2011, Tulsa Police Department staff meeting, in which Deputy Police Chief Alvin Webster informed fellow officers of the March 4 event at the Islamic center.

At that point, attendance was voluntary, according to the lawsuit.

The Islamic Cultural Center of Tulsa did not return calls or emails from FoxNews.com, but a promotional flier for the event cited in the suit states the event would include meetings with Muslim community leaders, a tour of the center's mosque, talks on Islam, as well as a 45-minute prayer service.

On Feb. 17, Webster sent out another email stating that attendance at the event was no longer voluntary, and that Fields was to order at least a few of the 25 or so men under his command to accompany him, there.

Fields replied that he believed the said order was an unlawful one, "in direct conflict with my personal religious convictions." In that email, Fields described Webster's order as, "conscience shocking."

Fields cc'd the department's chief, Charles W. Jordan, as well as other superiors on the email.

Four days later, Fields found himself explaining his actions at a meeting in Jordan's conference room. There, Webster asked -- on tape -- if Fields had solicited volunteers to attend the Islamic center's event.

?Yes, I have,? Fields replied, to which Webster asked, according to the suit, ?Okay, and the response??;

"Is zero," replied the captain.

?All right," said Webster, "And so that makes this fairly easy. Are you prepared to designate two officers and a supervisor or yourself to attend this event??;

"No," said Fields, to which Webster replied by slapping the captain with the aforementioned punishments. Since then, Fields has toiled, according Muise, from 8:45 p.m. to about 7 a.m. on the "graveyard shift."

On Feb. 24, the department made the Islamic center event voluntary for all officers, although with a catch. Officers could give a medical excuse for not going, but not one based on religious grounds, the suit states.

For its part, the City of Tulsa denied comment other than to say, "The police department serves every citizen regardless of demographics. We cannot comment in this case or on any pending litigation."

Fields has said that if it were merely a police matter to which he was called, requiring him to enter a mosque, he would have no problem doing his duty as an officer.

The married man also added during the May deposition, "I'm a Christian. Okay? I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. As a Christian, I have a duty to proselytize the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

"I also have a duty to repent for my sins and I have a duty to increase my ... relationship with the Lord through the Scripture and good deeds.

"As I said before -- I don't know that I can make it any clearer. Islam is not my faith. It's different than my religion ... And when I come to work, I don't presume to know someone's religion. It doesn't enter into the question when I'm providing a police call for service.

"Here, I have an instance where I'm being compelled to attend an event that's very -- it's an open invitation to discuss their religion ...and yet I can't express my faith to them."

Fields declined to comment directly on the matter. His attorney, Muise, initially replied to a 1 p.m. call from FoxNews.com by saying he was sleeping, having returned from the night shift shortly after 5 a.m. Wednesday morning.

Dem Catholic Governor Prays to Allah On Ramadan

Roman Catholic Illinois Governor Pat Quinn took time out recently to do some Islamic praying on Ramadan and thousands of Chicago-area Muslims gathered in Bridgeview on Sunday to observe the end of the Muslim celebration of Ramadan.

The governor used the occasion to sign a bill that will allow university students who have religious holiday conflicts with tests or assignments to ask for and receive alternate assignments.

I am the Lord, Thy God-- Thou shalt not have false Gods before thee. This was a mainstay of all Catholic children in their early years. I frequently forget simple things that I should remember, but these words are always in my memory, as well as the other nine commandments all true Catholics live by. The nuns taught us well. Governor Quinn, as well as V..P Biden, Nancy Pelosi and Kathleen Sebelus are called cafeteria Catholics, because they pick and choose the Church rules they will follow, rejecting any they don't think apply to them. It figures they feel as if they are special and rules are no problem to them.

Walid Phares to Newsmax: ?War With the Jihadists Is On?

Middle East expert Walid Phares tells Newsmax.TV that ?the war with the jihadists is on? and that ?the whole world is a battlefield? as a result.

?The administration needs to explain to the American public that the war with the Jihadists is on, even if we withdraw from Iraq, even if we withdraw from Afghanistan,? Phares tells Newsmax in an exclusive interview. ?The jihadists are not withdrawing. So it is a unilateral withdrawal from the confrontation on behalf of the Obama administration.

?And we do need to, if not expect, but at least project, that as long as this enemy ? these terrorists ? have any intention of harming us, the whole world is a battlefield, not just Iraq and Afghanistan.

?They hit in Libya. They could hit in any other place,? he added. ?So the American public should be prepared, better prepared, by its administration.?

Phares, an adviser to Congress on terrorism, called the attack in Libya that killed U.S. Ambassador Christopher Stevens and three other Americans ?an absolute act of terrorism with another layer of war crime.

?This is an attack against our diplomats in a country with which we?ve had good relations since the rebels took over and took down Gadhafi.

?But this is also indicative on the strategic level,? he added. ?President Obama said that after bin Laden, al-Qaida is going down ? and this is evidence that al-Qaida is spreading in areas where it was not operational, such as Libya and, of course, Somalia, Northern Mali, Syria, Iraq.?

As such, President Barack Obama?s White House ?needs to review its own assessment of the strength of al-Qaida and its response to al-Qaida,? Phares said. ?It also needs to review its policy with regard to the Arab Spring because, unfortunately, the administration partnered ? politically partnered ? with the Muslim Brotherhood, giving a lot of visibility to those movements. And, of course, al-Qaida took advantage of it.?

It also requires the administration to be even more forthcoming with the American people, he said.

?The administration must address the American public with a clear explanation of what the assessment of the jihadi movement is ? what the assessment is of al-Qaida ? because what we hear from the administration is that we are winning this confrontation. What we see on the ground, not just in Libya with this dramatic development, but also in Afghanistan, is that the Taliban and their allies are making inroads, and al-Qaida is pushing in Somalia and many other places.?

The administration also must ?be very tough with the governments that are supposed to protect our consulates and embassies, including the governments that we helped,? Phares said. ?We helped the political forces in Libya to bring down Gadhafi ? and the same goes for Egypt and Tunisia.

?These governments that are now either controlled by the Islamists or under their influence need to understand that the United States will not be with the forces of extremism.?

Phares, a foreign affairs and national security adviser to Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney, backed the former Massachusetts governor?s comments attacking Obama?s handling of the Libyan crisis. Romney has since toned down such criticism.

?Gov. Romney was right on target in his important press release and press conference,? Phares said. ?He was clear in stating that the Obama administration failed in dealing with the Arab Spring. It?s failed in reaching out to the moderates, to the seculars, to the civil societies, which, by the way, began the Arab Spring.

?Gov. Romney has believed that they are part of the forces in the Arab Spring since the beginning, but he blames the Obama administration for allowing the extremists, the Muslim Brotherhood, to take over.

?Gov. Romney wants to ally himself and the United States with civil societies, and the Obama administration wants to ally itself with the Islamists,? he added. ?That?s a huge difference between both.?

With so much turmoil in the Mideast, Phares said he expects Iran to be the next flashpoint.

?If we continue with this policy of disengagement, of withdrawal and of non-confrontation with forces that are growing in the region, unfortunately, Washington is looking at the Iranian regime still as a potential partner despite the sanctions. It?s penetrating Iraq and is giving a lot of trouble to our allies in the Gulf like the Saudis and the Kuwaitis and others.

?The policy needs to change here in Washington so that we can have a different strategy in dealing even with an Iranian threat, not just al-Qaida.?
