Yes 100% agree putting it where & when you want IS pitching , also , them going to the 6 man rotation tells me they are moving on somewhat a " Joba rule ". If they know what they know ...they might be able to get more for him in a trade ( multi players ) has been done before ? If the Mets make the playoff it is somewhat because of Harvey they will have to give him the keys to the city. Just too much $$$ which the Mets owners won't spend for one golden arm .

I tried to look up how many RBIs Gehrig had as a DH. I saw the "Iron Man" reference but the DHing wasn't mentioned.

Spinal stenosis isn't the end of his career unless they do something major like a spinal fusion of the hardened disks.

I've had both procedures, the recovery from the stenosis surgery wasn't bad and it didn't affect my range of motion or anything else. The spinal fusion operation, although it saved my life, definitely was a game changer severely limiting the range of motion in my upper torso.

Long ago I had multiple bone fractures in arms, legs, rib cage, collarbone. Recovery from that took +3 months and ended my career as Superman. In retrospect I am fortunate that I survived and that there are no actual bones in a man's "manhood."

as far as records go, to me the steroid boys don't count. Sosa, Bonds, McGwire, A ROD, etc. He did not pass Mays....can you just imagine Mays, Mantle, Aaron and Williams on steroids. The records are tarnished and they don't count to me.

Same here....and thankfully for the HOF voters as well

Harvey puts people in the seats and has a few years before free agency, not going anywhere soon.

< RANT >
I agree as well... but I think once "our" generation of HOF voters moves on, eventually many of these names will show up.

Think about it, there were 100 names on "the list" of which only ONE was leaked, against the agreement: A-Roid.

So, he pissed off a lot of folks to have that happen. He deserves blame etc just like all the other proven users.

HOWEVER, there are a TON of others out there who have used and not had their names leaked. Some/Most say that Ortiz is one of them. There have to be at least 99 others, and if you think it's *only* 99 then you are naive.

So, what then, we just skip an entire generation of ball players from the HOF?

Well, you and I can sit here and believe that will happen. Eventually, these numbers will just be what they are, the players are what they are, and everyone will move on (except us, the righteous).

My last rant: as indicated above everyone rails against A-Roid, but they overlook their own suspect player(s).

The game is no longer pure. It just can't be. Even with testing, there are some who are figuring out ways to stay ahead of the curve.

That said, we don't just throw up our hands and *not* test, but we must continue to push baseball to use the best possible science and be honest about it, and not just come down on players for "show and tell" like they do now.

< / RANT >

and I now return you to your regularly scheduled NY baseball thread.... carry on

Rob...all of what you say is true. I hold that anyone's name comes up I throw the records out. Because others did it, does not excuse especially when you are talking about "all time records". If guys batted .285 with drugs and .250 without thats bad but is not like saying you passed Mays or Gehrig.

This kid is going to throw alot of innings this season , Nats shut down Stratsburg somewhere near 160 (correct me if I'm wrong ) it would be wise if they ( Mets )do the same .
