Re: Batter Up! Play Ball!!
St Pete's was beautiful when I was there 15 years (edit: strike that ... more like 20 years) ago... this time went down to Ft. Myers beach, thankfully and narrowly missing the college spring break crowd by a few miles south
But traffic has grown exponentially in the 15 years (edit: ibid) since I was last down in SW Florida, and not sure I'd go back at this time of year again. Only got out fishing one morning and evening with nothing doing but a needlefish/gar in the backwaters on the fly. Nothing else on the beach by myself or at least 2 other anglers I ran into... think the 3+ days of 20knot winds dirtied things up too much, still was fairly clean but guessing the fish were just hanging off shore a bit more gulf side and were hunkered in the channels rather than the flats in the back.
Anyhoo, Yankees have started off the same as the previous 4 years. This is the first time they've lost 5 straight opening day games since the 30's (think it was 1934-38 if I recall the stat from yesterday).
Muts still have that enormous starting pitching advantage, and though I'm not a Muts fan by any stretch, one I can't stand at this point is Harvey. Too much drama. He would've fit in well with the Heir Steinbrenner Bronx Bombers.

Re: Batter Up! Play Ball!!
I was using hard metal, jigs, swimmers and poppers, with/without teaser to punch through the SW 20knot wind out "front" (west), and flyfishing in the protected backwaters.
I know you l o v e Joey... must be your fav mgr of all time LOL.
At least the Muts fans will lay off Terry for a while.
Shout out to DOUG: hey, what's happening down south? Nats and O's that bad?

Too strange. I haven't thought of the dish ran away with the spoon since there was no traffic in St. Pete. Today at work around 2:00 I couldn't get it out of my head. Tonight you post it. I must be psycho or something.

Re: Batter Up! Play Ball!!
Dodgers shut out the Padres 7-0, marking the first time in history that a team were shut out for 27 consecutive innings!
new jap pitcher Maeda pitched 6 shut out innings and his DH hit a HR (late Apr 1 joke for Bob )

Well, The O's are so bad they have won the most games in the American League over the past 4 years. We get used to the dire predictions that we suck and it is great motivation.
We have a very good team this year and the only question mark is starting pitching that is not as bad as all the predictors say it is. Actually it might end up pretty damn good.
See you guys in the playoffs if you can keep up with us.

LOL... we'll see.
Big wildcard for the Yanks is injuries, as with most teams, but exacerbated by age in the Yanks case.
For the O's, ESPN has this to say:
No. 23: Baltimore Orioles
Last Season: 81-81
Projected record: 82-80 (fourth in AL East)
http://espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/page/...timore-orioles
Although I give the O's more credit out of respect for Buck, who I think can pull some magic. It hasn't been the case against the Twinkies but come summer, if your starters aren't getting 5+ innings then that staff will slowly come apart... you don't have the pen for 3-4 innings per game average, as most teams don't.
But the bigger problem is not the Yanks, but the Red Sox and Jays IMO.
At any rate, don't be a stranger here, come what may

Good sign for Jimenez yesterday.
Saw him down in Tampa when I was there and he looked good.
