yup, but Bumgardner had a wicked bad curve ball last night. Sends good hitters back to the little leagues

Son of LOD death of FDNY BC Mike Fahey threw out the 1st pitch to John Franco , it was very nice by the Mets Org.

game boiled down to 2 plays; Ty Kelly on second and Cabrera hits a shot up the middle and Bumgarner grabs it...out; 6 in left and its a hit and a run; Familia makes a bad ptich and its over; Familia needs the sinker to be working and it was obvious he did not have his stuff and the HR ball was left up in zone; but a great finish; 2 games below .500 in August and we host the wild card; now it's all about the young pitchers getting healthy and we add Gsellman and Lugo to the mix

Nats prove again they are missing something; I see no leadership; Harper too young and cocky; Werth a spoiled baby; Murphy does not have the personality; they do things I don't get....elimination game and Werth gets thrown out by 15 ft at home; Harper tries to steal third with 2 outs in 9th behind by a run; there is something missing...and I am happy about it; just hope Harvey, DeGrom and Matz come back and Gsellman and Logo were for real

We got "Bucked", another one of them mind blowing Showalter moves reminiscent of ones that he made with former teams. Still SMH.

The Nationals were an average team against the rest of the league (1 game over .500). Beating the crap out of their division opponents (29 games over .500) did nothing to prepare them to play the caliber of ball needed in the playoffs.

Dusty was more like a father cheering his sons on then a manager with boundaries. It was fun to watch though. Bryce Harper let his team down in my opinion, it started with his telling umpire after game FU, so I felt his fall this year was earned and well deserved.

If Cleveland continues this run they better send Yankees Christmas card this December.

Doug

Doug,

Can't disagree with anything! Terry F also is a fantastic manager, but yes, a card would be nice

Yes its Harper's team but to be fair He walks a lot & he can walk a lot more , his selection is out of the strike zone why ? because pitches don't challenge any more , except some Left pitchers , trying to go the other way is not him , that makes you a great hitter , unless you switch , some team will pay him a Billion $ sure hope its the Yanks because they have it , I've seen teams piss away $$ on less

agree TF is a fantastic mgr.

I think the umps are still in the old school mode & are terrible not because of instant reply but like every ball park dimensions are different ...every ump has a different zone ? Why should they do a good job ? baseball don't pay them enough !

I have thought Harper will end up in the Bronx; Yanks need a young star and he loves the spotlight which means Yanks or Boston

the Bsox signed Yoan Moncada somewhere over 30 million & got fined for singing Cuban player so its costing them over 66 million for him , it might be a possibility they have the $$$ or does the penalty count towards their payroll cap. I really don't understand it in total. But heck your right on w/ the teams who would .

The Yanks won't do a mega star deal until they feel the rest of the holes are closed (or at least patched) with younger players. They are not doing an Aroid, Tex, ++ deal with multiple long contract aging players ever again.

On the Michael K show a few years back , some marketing guy responded about the purchase of Arod , True they did not get their $$$ worth as a player but in a marketing perspective it was a fantastic marketing move for the Yankees . Not sure if he was blowing smoked ( like investment guys ) but even after the mess he responded to, sale was still good . Not a bust as I can see .

Arod is unique in that way, he was a lightning rod of attention and likely was " worth it " from a marketing standpoint. I don't think that is true for the 4 or so other big $ contracts
