Re: Brigantine North End Changes
And they're all gone until after New Years. They are going to start selling permits on Dec 29 but they don't have the stickers yet. So far I don't like any answers I'm getting but they are all surprised I have any objections.

Re: Brigantine North End Changes
It'll be interesting, in that really there wasn't that much need as the green heads and high tides almost self regulate the traffic on the north end, without intervention.
Other than a couple of times during the year when there's a hot bite up there, it could not have been that bad with traffic. The parties and jet ski crowd are all at the south end.
So, I really don't understand this other than a money grab.

Re: Brigantine North End Changes
There's no money involved. At $50 a pop X what they will sell it doesn't qualify as a drop in the ocean.

Ok, so what then? Revenge? Power? Pure bureaucracy?

Re: Brigantine North End Changes
Control. Refer to those stuck on the beach picture posts. They want the NE to be fishing only. No yahoos. I'm not opposed to Parks taking it over. I just don't think the take over was well thought out especially since they had time to think it out. Bass River says the May 15 date came from the Feds. I don't believe that since the only difference is Parks has it not Brigantine. I think other arrangements can be worked out before the fish hit.

Re: Brigantine North End Changes
I hope some sense can be brought to the situation, but honestly, the North end is NOT the problem at Brigantine. Like I wrote earlier, the bugs and tides take care of most of the issues, only a few bad apples make it up there in any given season, and not enough to impact the natural area, except perhaps up to the old coast guard station (not even that far), and that only on overflow if the area by the north entrance is blocked up with campers and whatnot. But that's not a significant encroachment IMO.

Re: Brigantine North End Changes
Thinking about my earlier statement, I do not go down to Brig on the weekends in the summer, so it's possible I'm wrong (maybe way off) about the amount of traffic (at the North End... I don't go there at all on weekends except prior to 8 AM or so, because of the zoo at the south end that I've already experienced... )
Also on another site they mention a problem with the north entrance in that a LOT of folks like to setup right *at* the entrance (I've seen a lot of walk-ons there, as well as the camper brigade) and almost block entrance and exit, and this causes a lot of headaches.
I read there that NJBBA has been working on proposed changes (by "working" I assume that means discussing?) for years? and possibly a different entrance to the North?

Re: Brigantine North End Changes
Well, I picked up both my Brigantine passes... figures, last year due to a SNAFU on my part, I had to purchase 2 Brig passes at the "senior rate"... so I paid full price
This year, I only needed 1 Brig "senior pass", but have to kick in an extra 5 teners for the state
Throw in the 2*20 to run the full beach in the spring and fall

Re: Brigantine North End Changes
You'll notice on the state application it is a 7 month pass. What happened to the public input that was promised?

Re: Brigantine North End Changes
8 month pass, no? Jan 1 - Dec 31 minus 4 months (May 15 - Sep 15)
But yeah, input? ve don't need no stinkin' input!

Re: Brigantine North End Changes
NJBBA annual meeting is Sunday, Feb 11. No coincidence it is in Brigantine. It is members only (if not, why not?) but you can join there. 10 am.
