Re: Anyone fish Plum Island here ?
For some reason, most of the MA anglers moved on, but a few still hang out on the Ask Frank forum exclusively. I don't fish up that way but now that there's 2 of you start posting and perhaps you'll draw out some lurkers
Jersey boys looking north... the bass are spawning in the Hudson or have run past us up to Rhody and the Cape. Old timers spend more time online than on the water. Hey, i fished the jetty at Plum Island back when the first bluefish showed up there in modern memory. Chaos. Throwing Creek Chub striper strikes and atoms.
Was in Parking Lot 1 on the sanctuary yesterday from 7:30am - 4pm. was hitting schoolies all day on clams using a high low rig. biggest was about 25". tried chunking herring w/ a fish finder rig but all they wanted was the clams. really good day to be on the island.
Was at PI Fri and Sat, surfed in front of Surfland and at Sandy Point Fri with clams and mackerel, only caught a skate and a few nibbles and on the Res at parking lot 1 on Sat, caught a schoolie on clams. The guy a few yards away from me caught a few schoolies on worms.
Was @ PI in the mouth on Fri 6/14 using worms w/ a floater and clams w/ a high low rig and we were banging schoolies on the incoming tide. Was on the refuge, Lot 1, Sun 6/16 and my daughter (7yrs old) caught a 24" and a 20" schoolie on clams fishing the incoming tide and a little after.
They fishing for us has been really good. mostly schoolies but am seeing reports of keepers being taken as well. this has got to be one of the best seasons on PI for me in a while.
