You love that rod! I have two, one casting and one spinning. I have green on the spinning reel and yellow, lol, on the casting. Both seem to work just fine. Good luck!!!

No trolling is all I care about. Trolling up a fish unless it's a marlin or fish that can only be trolled ain't fishing in my book
I think he plans on netting bait

Usually Tarpon like to take drifting crabs under a balloon or float but can free line also , pinfish mullet , white bait . Your in for a treat if you hook up . Beware : Tarpon fishing is additive

What Hook said... I have fished for Tarpon several times at Marathon Key and we always drifted live crabs on circle hooks on a moving tide under the bridges. Get ready for about an hour fight and some sore muscles! By the way, you asked about the type of braid I put on the St. Croix Tidemaster/Cabo setup. My go to is Power Pro Spectrum. I have noticed though that braid line colors fade significantly over time. I'm not sure it really matters. As someone else mentioned you are fishing with a fair amount of leader material anyway.

I went out with Captain Carlos on Gone Fishin' out of Marco for some back water action in the Everglades. Fishing the Everglades was in a lot of ways very different than fishing NJ.

Caught probably 6 types of fish, including snook, pompano and a hammerhead shark. You can PM me for his contact information if your interested. He's real knowledgable, and a good guy.

Funny thing: Those guys in Florida are spoiled rotten. If they don't get a hit in 15 minutes, they complain and move to a better spot. LOL. I doubt most of them would last through our cold, windy fall striper season up here, but why should they bother trying. Florida is an angler's paradise. Enjoy!

I was contemplating doing either the back country ten thousand island fishing or the tarpon charter. The latter won but it was a real hard decision. I usually don't care about quality or size as much as I care about quantity or action. Not sure why I went the other way but fingers crossed for a successful trip.

Thanks Rob.

Surf fishing question. Teaser or no teaser in Florida?
And should I be worried about like twist using a spinning reel with no swivel?

I would always use a teaser until I shouldn't but lets see if Hook weighs in, he's done (much) more and better down there than I have.

I've used braid for so long I almost forget about line twist, but yes, if you have to do a lot of casting plugs, I always like a swivel, black or dark metal, no shiny silver.

teaser : its more like Nymphing but I you choose go for it & more than one , there are no rules in catching .

I tie direct always as posted before but if your presentations spins add it to your main line behind it , sure & if your fishing in the dark it helps changing easy.
