Reviving this thread as I am getting ready for my annual florida trip. This year we'll be staying in Naples. Anyone from the site down there now fishing or going to be soon? I booked a guide again (hopefully this one can tie knots lol) & hoping to get 2 surfcasting sessions in

Nice area, hope the winds are favorable. That's the only variable that I can see (as everwhere ) There is the inlet rocks and some backwaters that I see folks hitting with kayaks that are enticing.

My in-laws live in Naples. Great place. Don't under estimate the fresh water peacock bass fishery

As far as a charter, I've used Cuda charters. Nice boat. Fishes off shore wrecks. Capt Mike is a nice guy. I'd use him again.

I remember you posting pics of that fish, very nice looking. Its on my bucket list when I stay longer then a few days. Hard not to hit the salt when all you have to do is take the elevator down to it .

Well that makes the salt to easy not to fish. I on the other hand walk out mom's back door and am surrounded by fresh water ponds of bass so that's easy for me.
I have done some back salt water kayaking around there and enjoyed that as well as some inlet fishing for snook. It's such a great area.

I have to check my GPS history and send you a nice back water location close to home.

Here's a variety of surf caught fish, 2 mornings, 1.5 hours each time, double digit fish each time. The fishing is so good here even I can catch . Not in the pictures are some smaller tarpon like 16"Name: 20180608_063906.jpg

Took a guided trip for tarpon today. My wife landed 4 out of 5 tarpon (80% land ratio ) using bait (25-45#'s). I fought 6 tarpon, got all 6 on lures , and landed zero lol. I did get 2 boat side and sideways then lost an on a final dive, should have loosened drag. Landing would have been a bonus but I really got my fix today just getting them to take my lure & that initial jump when they're hooked did me good . My fish (captain's estimate were 30-80#'s). Also landed 5 weakies. What a day! Name: Resized_20180610_121533.jpg
