Got out to a local lake yesterday afternoon where enough ice had given way to create some pockets of open fishable water. The trout were biting well there right before Christmas and not much has changed. At the beginning of this past spring trout season Bobby at Fishermans Den highly recommended the garlic gulp power pro gunk and I had an awful time with it in the spring but this winter it has worked great. Ended up with five trout on the gulp and a perch on the lone worm I found in a spot in my garden that’s usually full of em. Now off to Vermont to support my other addiction with a little powder skiing.

Tried a new area...

Enjoyed the peace and solitude but was only able to find one lonely slab crappie.

If you're only going to get one, that's a beast of a crappie!

Last licks on this winters ice fishing season? I hope not.

Some tasty Jumbo perch and around two dozen LMB that were released.

Have all the fish caught on artificial lures or you used live bait as well? ...nice collection, John

All the perch and crappie were caught on jigs as was the bass in the picture but most of the other bass were caught off tip ups.

Great day on the ice.

Anyone ever see a bass with this kind of pigmentation?

Ended up with around a dozen bass, half dozen pickerel, a few perch and a bunch of sunnies.

I have never kept a bass, and I never keep fish out of this particular lake.

Someone told me its Melanosis (increased pigment in the skin caused by too much exposure to the sun). I googled it and came up with a bunch of info and more pictures on it...harmless to humans.

Here's my teaser that Bill now proudly owns.

Find him on the beach, and when he's not looking go in his bag and steal it.
