Jonny,

Thanks for the updates, they are most appreciated. I have a brother in Portsmouth, and hope to get over there to fish a little this summer. I am about 3 hours away, don't get to the ocean too often.

I think my best bet is probably bait. Does not seem like fisherman in that area use clams much? You think chunk bait?
Chris

YOu can use clams here 'Specially in the marsh. My brother loves to fish with clams, but I usually opt for chunk Herring, with a little WD-40 sprayed on there lol. For some reason, the Stripers, atleast the ones in Hampton, DO NOT like chunk Mackerel. I remember one day last Summer, fishing chunk Mackerel in the marsh for 5 hours, and not ONE SINGLE BITE lol. The shop had run out of Herring for the day, so I was stuck with Mackerel. It was horrible lol. Then my friend shows up with Herring and starts catching fish right next to me. I was LIVID! Herring is more of an oily fish, so that may explain it. Its safe to say I do not take Mackerel down there to chunk anymore lol. BUT, if your live lining or throwing out dead WHOLE Mackerel, that may be a different story. Anyhow, if you want to fish tha maaahsh, clams, herrin', and my secret 10" PowerBait PowerEels are prime.

It's not a secret anymore

Plenty of schoolie action in the Plum Island area. The voices told me so.

I am trying to meet up with someone down there this week.

I went to the trestle today. I threw everything I had out there. Not even a slight bump. Seems theres no fish in the Hampton Estuary, atleast at that spot. I let some chunk herring float out there for hours, nothing. I was there from about 4 to 8. Theres was several people there, but they left before me.

Oh well, maybe sometimes this week or on the weekend.
