Sorry Al, after I posted it, went back thru the thread and realized it was the same pic I posted before I'll have to find another...

OK Rags,
I know you are just down the street from the beach but I can play this sunrise pic game with the best of 'em. I have them from a few beaches and a lot of different months. I have them from the deck and from my F-250 condo. EVERY SUNRISE IS A GOOD ONE --- when you are an old fart!!!

I would like to know what you guys are using for a camera. Your pics are all better than I can take with my Brownie!

I like to try to get a living soul along with the sunrise. One of my fitter friends who can still get up early.

And, of course, our little girlfriend. She was eating Junebugs under my coleman lamp the night before this pic. Them she had the nerve to walk up to within 10' of me and make a deposit in the sand. No respect.

My wife gave me a XXXXX EOS Rebel for my birthday a year ago. It's a digital, SLR, 18mm-55mm, 1:3.5-5.6 zoom lens. It has all kind of manuel settings though I generally use either close-up or on automatic. It does such a great job out of the box that I haven't invested in a tele lens, yet...

Not a sunrise but, an interesting photo at first light of a Tuna stick-boat just off Boon Island, ME. backlit by the the early sun light through an early morning fog. We had been out all night fishing and came in there to rest. When I got up, the other boat was just seaward of us. One guy in the tower and the rest apparently in their bunks.

Pretty picture. Looks like a loon just off the stern.
I remember some vivid mental pictures of Carolina Low Country shrimpers cruising past Hunting Park Island with the sun low in the western sky.

As I look at these photos and eat my lunch I'm thinking "what am I doing in an office?"

Bill get you a tele lens that will go to 300mm., and be sure it has a VR [ vibration reducer ] on it if a VR is not built into your camera. It will actually give you 450mm., and you can do well with it free hand or steadying it a little against something. Make a world of difference in bringing things in close. I'll send you a couple of pictures I took with mine. Anything bigger than a 300mm., I'm told by the camera gurus, is a pain in the a** to freehand. And when you want to shoot something in a hurry, you ain't got time to set up a tripod, hook up the camera, etc. which you have to do with one greater than 300mm.

MULE.

Jeepers, Rich, you need scuba gear to go in your living room.
