Rob, think about hose clamps attached to a nice looking waterproof backing around the holder tubes and attach the plate to it.

Yes, miraculously (and I don't use that word lightly) I'm fine.

Was traveling around 40-45 mph down Hartford Rd. in Mt. Laurel,
thing came out from under a guard rail, saw me and launched into the air
about 5-10 ft in front of me... jammed on the brakes and BAM.

Feathers and glass flew around me. Really thought someone was going to hit me
in the rear... had to lean out and steer over to the side of the road.

Really shook up for about 10-15 minutes now the jeep is up at Cherry Hill Dodge

here's the culprit:

one more animal strike and I'm trading this thing in for a Nissan Pathfinder or some such thing. maybe the japs have a device that sends out a "move out of the way" signal.

Well, the "cooler rack" holder is still going strong. Dual roof, so I store the hard top on a set of pulleys in the garage during the summer, and drive with the soft top. Reverse for the winter.

Will likely get out for the first time later this week, or early next.

Gonna take the wet rod holder (boat) out as well to look for tog before the end of the month, some perch and also check-see if any winter flounder are around. NO-BO-DY fishes for them down here (or anywhere in NJ that I can tell), and there used to be a population in the back, so just want to see.

well, my "cooler rack" has me PO'd and I'm getting rid of it.

Replacements in the running are the Toyota 4runner and a Subaru Forester.

Going to test drive them, and make a decision soon.

Done with Jeeps.

Besides the $1200 touch screen nav/radio that is bad, the defective tail gate hinges, now there is a very intermittent but nagging problem in the throttle / computer / and / or trans that cause a hiccup under certain conditions when cruise control is on between 50-60.

I give up.

I'm trading it in and will let someone else chase jeep down to fix the issue, with full disclosure.

I just can't afford to let the dealer hang onto to it to then tell me they fixed it or can't find the issue alternately.
