The Jeep is no more.

2015 Subaru Forester, 18K miles

Found out
- the Throttle body, touch screen nav, and tail gate issues are all common with '13 wrangler owners

Thankfully, I'm no longer one of them!

Good grief Rob.

I want a new buggy, I just have no reason to get a new one.

I was also upset with Jeep's handling of the issues

It was time, had fun on the beach and loved the soft top, but enough was enough.

I had it out with Chrysler in 2003, like I promised them back then, I haven't bought another one from them.

my brother in law Rich, same year, also had it out about a brake defect... told me to stay away but I had been doing good until now.

I feel like early morning Christmas as a kid today, just getting rid of that dog.

well, after all is said and done, I decided I'm not taking the Subaru on the beach.

I don't like the fact it doesn't have a good front tow point, it has front scoop that is too low and reduces effective ground clearance unless removed, plus technically Brigantine says it's an "all wheel drive" so if really really stuck (unlikely) they could give me a ticket. Another thing I don't like is the 4 cyl engine power, though the X-trans mode would seem to solve that (that's the subaru's "off road" mode, which changes the power transfer to "true" 4wd, and some other transmission goodness for offroad)

Really, it's the clearance that concerns me most, with those heavy ruts in the soft stuff that Brig gets throughout the year. The Jeep never ever had an issue with any of it, even when all the other vehicles around me were getting stuck a couple of years ago.

But bottom line is I'm moving onto another vehicle soon... just not sure which. Next up to test drive is a 4runner.

What's happening with the Subaru? If I don't trade it, I'm going to give it to one of my daughter's... if not outright give it will be a heavy subsidy

well, I'll change my avi once I decide what I'm actually going to use on the beach.

was thinking of sitting it out this year altogether (driving on the beach that is ) but my wife really enjoyed the comfort of being able to drive down to the water. She's a beach girl but has some restrictions and can't handle the walk through soft sands any longer.

ah life... decisions decisions decisions

ok, final answer.

My new cooler rack holder (with factory hitch to hold it). Has the 3rd row seating for the grandkids when they come down.
